Re: UCLA? 2011
I am dying to go to UCLA. It is my #1 choice and always has been. I was a Business Admin. major at USC with a Psych. minor and individualized concentration. Lost hold of my GPA due to the several statistics/calculus classes I had to take with my major. I have a ton of entertainment work experience, and I am applying with a clear intention to enter the Entertainment and Media Law Program at UCLA. I have visited a class, met the program's president and spoken with the dean of admissions on a few short occasions. I want nothing more than to go to this school.
3.14 lsdas gpa / 168 lsat
So tell me, does my GPA sign my own death certificate....or do I have a shot?

Re: UCLA? 2011
You should try, but the UC schools seem to place a high value on GPAs. UCLA would be an extreme reach.

Holy crap @ tuition numbers.
I'm also surprised I wasn't WLed with the others, someone with my stats got WLed last year. Hoping that's a good sign.

Re: UCLA? 2011
Why would UCLA send me an email about their great philosophy and law program at the law school when I haven't even been accepted? Additionally, why haven't I heard back yet?

Fuck!
I wrote my whole "Special Program" essay on their philosophy specialization. I thought I was going to be their special snowflake, their diamond in the rough, their teacher's pet---the one who's dying to get into a program that no one knows about! But not now! Now they told like 100,000 about that program and im sure about 5,000 other philosophy majors are writing the same essay right now...
TITS!

Is $$$$ at Illinois something I should notify them of to start negotiating? Or not ranked high enough?

If they didn't give you any money at all I think it would be a very good bargaining chip.Arbiter213 wrote:Is $$$$ at Illinois something I should notify them of to start negotiating? Or not ranked high enough?

Cool. Let the games begin. Getting money from a school that's top 20 and I'm ACTUALLY interested in would be a nice step... so give me love UCLA!Hannibal wrote:If they didn't give you any money at all I think it would be a very good bargaining chip.Arbiter213 wrote:Is $$$$ at Illinois something I should notify them of to start negotiating? Just wanted to update: Emailed Dean Schwartz, he responded in 2 minutes ( ), and then responded again when I responded. Really incredibly nice guy. Said to let him know when I fill out fafsa and need access.

Re: UCLA? 2011
Still half asleep I woke up and started checking my email on my phone. Even though I know UCLA does phone acceptances, this email subject line got me momentarily excited: "Acceptance to the California School of Law" so I actually woke up and looked again, sweet, online law school

I have a lot of personal factors in play and I'm debt averse. I'm gonna take the best offer I have, taking all my personal utilities into account, when I have all my information. I'm obviously still waiting to hear from 7 schools. I will be withdrawing from Minnesota right now.justadude55 wrote:i saw some of your other offers? you gonna take them?Arbiter213 wrote:Just wanted to update: Emailed Dean Schwartz, he responded in 2 minutes ( ), and then responded again when I responded.
