I think you should retake. If you did not perform to the same level, you can surely do better next time. That said, I have had a bunch of concussions, I am not sure if 2 months is a long enough time to recover, you may still be not so "clear" by then. Actually you may digress with brain injuries. But if you do score a 172 or more, maybe you would have more choices above UCLA or money elsewhere so do you want to rob yourself of the possibility. Besides, you are below both medians right now, I don't think your chances are good anyway.tlabrum3 wrote:i need a bit of advice. I have a 3.41/167 with good softs and want to go to ucla. Here's the dilemma: I received a grade 2 concussion 3 days before the exam and clearly had some lingering affects (which the doctors warned that I wouldnt do my best), but I took the test anyway so I'd have the option of applying ED. I did well on 3 of the sections but the reading, for obvious reasons, killed me. I put the concussion explanation in the special section on the application to explain any blemishes on the record. I feel confident that I could fairly easily score a 170 or 171 (my max has been 173) under normal circumstances in december. here's the question, do I retake in December and apply the day i get my scores back or apply early decision with the 167?
thanks for the help.

I've been looking over people's cycles on LSN, and it makes my stomach turn to see how many got decisions in late April and/or emerged from Waitlisted territory in July or August.RIPmitchhedberg wrote:I applied in mid-September and already got an email two weeks ago saying that I'm in. Schwartz first called my mom's house (I am living abroad right now but the application didn't accept international numbers) and the conversation went something like this:
Schwartz: Hi, is your daughter home?
Mom: (surprised since nobody ever uses that number, especially men his age calling for me) Nooo, she actually doesn't live here anymore. Are you a friend of hers? I can pass along a message.
Schwartz: Ummm, kind of. My name is Rob Schwartz and I'm calling from UCLA. I have to her about something regarding her application. Does she still use her gmail account?
Mom: Oh okay. Yes she does. Have a nice day, Bob.
I was really shocked to find out so early, since my numbers were 3.6/169 (but I took the LSAT 3 times). Anyway, I'm really excited because UCLA is one of my top choices.
Also, great screen name. Love Mitch Hedberg.
Haha thanks, for the congratulations and the SN compliment (my friends didn't understand it).

So no movement since last week's trickle? When should the first big wave go out?

My guess is that we will start to see a lot more decisions in the next week or so.cigrainger wrote:So no movement since last week's trickle? When should the first big wave go out?

LSAC says my report was sent out 10/23 but I still haven't received any indication from UCLA that they have received it/that it is complete, etc. Is this normal? How long should I wait before contacting them?

I submitted 10/25 and received an email 10/26 indicating that my file was complete.. are there any other app materials that they might be waiting on?

haha if you're responding to me, I haven't received any indication from UCLA that they have my file at all. The only confirmation I have is that LSAC says my application was transmitted.

Wait, I'm confused now. I submitted 10/26, and I haven't received any emails confirming my submission yet. Should I be worrying?

I have the same question, just because I've heard that some schools aren't that great about notifying you of your status at various times. All of my applications "reports" from LSAC have been sent, accept Notre Dame. I have received a few e-mails with info for status checkers and stuff, but nothing from UCLA yet.lulu12 wrote:Wait, I'm confused now. LOL...
That is half the battle...even a smidgy email saying they got our 'package' is better than nothing!

It's definitely not half the battle, GI Joe.
half the battle will be them accepting me. The other half will be paying for the school.
