Could someone tell me how NYU notifies people for acceptance, rejection, waitlist? My status checker states that my decision letter was sent on Friday...

Re: NYU 2011
Same here. Except that I checked this morning and it said "under review" and this afternoon it changed to DLS 4/15. From the half an eye I've been keeping on this thread, it seems like WL and rejections are emailed, and acceptances are mailed - which would indicate that we're in good shape (I checked my inbox very carefully). I don't really have a dog in this race, because unless they still have significant scholarships available, I'm more or less decided on Harvard, but I wish you the best of luck.Zeile wrote:Could someone tell me how NYU notifies people for acceptance, rejection, waitlist? Lol it probably would affect me going to Cornell, but I'm certain I'm not in. 4.05/168 December app = there's probably several dozen more impressive sets of numbers ahead of me.Flips88 wrote:You very well could be in. Edit: How have people generally been notified of WL/dings? Is it all snail mail?

Re: NYU 2011
Mine says DLS Friday too, just checked....I enrolled at another school and sent them an email asking to withdraw my application on Friday. Awkward? I was still under review this morning (checked to see if there had been any change in my status since I hadn't received any response to my withdrawal email.)Zeile wrote:Could someone tell me how NYU notifies people for acceptance, rejection, waitlist? Re: NYU 2011
So far it's been acceptances via snail mail and dings via email. The first couple wait lists were reported last week via email. Maybe they're going to wait lists via snail mail or they're letting in people after others have withdrawn after depositing places last friday? I'd check the ASW over the next few days. It usually takes anywhere from 48-72 hours to let you inBildungsroman wrote:Lol it probably would affect me going to Cornell, but I'm certain I'm not in. 4.05/168 December app = there's probably several dozen more impressive sets of numbers ahead of me.Flips88 wrote:You very well could be in. Yeah, I checked the ASW after I saw my update and no dice, but I also haven't gotten an email yet re: WL or ding. Wish NYU had a more readable way of doing decisionsFlips88 wrote:So far it's been acceptances via snail mail and dings via email. The first couple wait lists were reported last week via email. I'm taking this as good news. I'm a 169, 3.9+ so maybe I somehow slipped in under the radar? I live in Philly, so hopefully I'll be getting that letter here soon!Flips88 wrote:So far it's been acceptances via snail mail and dings via email. So has anyone been rejected or waitlisted via email? I want an excuse to drink/celebrate after work today!

So would it be safe to assume that there's a very good chance I was accepted?whathojeeves wrote:I think if you go back a couple of pages there have been both wl's and dings via emails so far.Zeile wrote:So has anyone been rejected or waitlisted via email? From prior experience it seems so, but I wouldn't get your hopes up too much until you get access to the ASW which could take a few days. At this point in the cycle, what was true in January might not hold in mid-AprilZeile wrote:So would it be safe to assume that there's a very good chance I was accepted?whathojeeves wrote:I think if you go back a couple of pages there have been both wl's and dings via emails so far.Zeile wrote:So has anyone been rejected or waitlisted via email? Re: NYU 2011
There was also at least one person who went DLS and got a ding email a few days later... Not sure if it was a random glitch, but definitely an ouch.Flips88 wrote:From prior experience it seems so, but I wouldn't get your hopes up too much until you get access to the ASW which could take a few days. With the WLs that happened last week, people got WL emails before their statuses changed to DLS.

One person just reported a WL email on LSN--not sure when they went DLS, though.

My status checker changed to DLS a couple of hours ago and I just got the WL email...sorry if that isn't very encouraging, but best of luck to everyone still waiting!
