I'm a 10/20 person as well. Splitter. Reapplicant.

I just keep telling myself not to read too much into the minutia of the status checker since it's their first year with a checker.

That said, fuck you people who went complete in November and got decisions already. Seriously. Submitted in September!

when are statuses changing?? what if i'm not around to get my letter (traveling)??
HELP!

Statuses have been changing on the NYU Status Checker since 12/3. Right now, it seems like there's been 3 days of status changes, 12/3, 12/6 and now today, 12/9. So don't worry if you haven't had your status change yet. There's still plenty of time. I wouldn't be at all surprised if there are a bunch more status changes tomorrow.

:)

That said, it could just be a quick rejection/WL, so I wouldn't be too angry yet.

Aw, well you're getting Harvard, so I wouldn't worry about NYU if I were you.

Thanks, but I'm going to be public service poor, so those nice NYU scholarships are definitely on my mind!!

I wonder when we'll hear about the named scholarships. I was hoping to get a nice trip to NYC, but they have interview stations throughout the country.

Of course, if I get one I will still be pleased.

For postmark dates: is that the date a letter arrives at the post office, or the day it is mailedleaves the post office?

 trying to figure out if it's worthwhile to have hope for a midwest arrival tomorrow.

Dulc's pictures were splendiferous!

Seriously, even if I don't wind up at NYU, if I truly do get a purple envelop in the next week I think I may save it for the rest of my life. The 5 yr old in me is super excited

Good news West Coasters (well good speculations anyway). I just got a letter from W&L that was postmarked from the 6th and came today. And now that I think about it my Georgetown letter was sent on a Monday and came on a Friday - but that was Thanksgiving week so no mail on Thursday. So east - west letters have been taking 3 mail days. If that holds true this time we'll get them Saturday - before the dreaded no mail on Sunday. :D

3 days to West Coast, 2 days to Brooklyn. It takes two days to make it across a bridge, and three to make it 3,000 miles. Oh, USPS. ::Shakes head:: Where are you purple envelope?

Typical american sentiment, lol. Rather than be amazed the envelope can go from a doorstep 3000 miles away to another in less than 72 hours for only a few cents, you have to be disappointed that something else can't be equally amazing... god we are spoiled haha

It does seem weird though. My speculations could be wrong. Both of the other envelopes were small, so maybe the NYU one will take longer. I have to admit that I hope not though!

Thought I'd join the party, even if I am a bit late.

Just got home from work (14 hour days are loooong... do I really want to go to law school so I can work some more 14 hour days?)... I was on pins and needles all day, but when I got home I had a beautiful purple envelope waiting for me.

Went complete 11/10. Live in NY. Oh, and, status checker changed 12/6.

This was especially sweet because I've been missing out on the Harvard, Stanford and Berkeley fun. And to think, I went complete at those schools in early October...

Good luck everyone!

So I did some LSN searching, and for those of us receiving decision letters soon we can be pretty confident. The first RD rejects (they were before any WLs) were 1/6. There were, however, 4 ED rejects in December. One did not disclose numbers, two were significantly below NYU standards, and the other actually seemed like a reasonable candidate, so I don't know what happened there.

Basically just sharing some info to confirm what everyone has been saying about the letters in the mail right now.
