It's funny how the same people migrate from thread to thread and ride out the waves together.

I missed the whole experience last cycle by applying late, that's why I decided to reapply.

Scholarship threads will pop up like mushrooms after rain.

Then the 1000 C v C v N or M v V v P v B threads or HYS v. T14 with $$$ threads will come out. There will be plenty of things to obsess over. (I hope to contribute a few of these 8) )

Come on Columbia!! So what are the bets on how long this wait will be?? Last year it was about the 22nd, 23rd, 24th, 25th right? And Columbia pulls the surprise attack right? No warning, just mail?

C'mon Columbia, we know you love strong LSATs. Let the man in.

Hahaha, here to ride it out I guess :) I'm not sure why I should have any hope for CLS at this point, but I guess having paid the application fee alone entitles me to some sense of possibility. I paid my money! And I'm gonna see all the movie! (Anyone?)

From my LSN stalking, it seems that the people who marked 1/22 as their date did that in terms of probably when the letter itself was dated, and then they got their letter a few days later, i.e.

http://lawschoolnumbers.com/dutchstriker

http://lawschoolnumbers.com/SR86

So most of them got theirs starting Monday, January 25 last year...

+1!
Although, after a WL at Chicago I'm hoping that "different result" isn't "reject"...
Here we go, hopefully I'll actually get into my original top choice!

Quite personally I'm a fan of the "In at..." threads. Hooray for bonding with potential classmates! Here's to all of us contributing to the "In at Columbia" thread!!!

I agree, I got to start one, it's absolutely fabulous. I hope to be a part of this new thread. It would be a great gift for mom to get into Columbia.

After the rejection from Chicago, I could really go for a Columbia acceptance. Here's to hoping!

Haha I remember when I thought T14 seemed formidable...then T10...then T6. I'm glad I'm only waiting on 3 more schools. Hopefully then I'll find some satisfaction.

Its never enough.. after my cycle is done I will probably start wondering if I should defer a year take a few physics classes and apply to med school.

Hahaha sometimes I wonder ...

What does it take to get into med school? I am too lazy to look up.

Its a lot easier than ppl make it out to be.. for numbers u need >3.5 gpa, like a 29 or 30 total MCAT, and a research position with a prof.(extremely easy to get). Do some volunteer work and do decent in your interviews and you are good. Cant think of the exact course requirements but Im missing like 2 physics and organic chem 2 and I was an econ major/bio minor.

Haha I wonder how the med school world would feel about an influx of pre-law applicants next cycle.

The med school application process is still the most harrowing of all app processes, though. Over 60,000 people take the MCAT each year (a hard test in itself, and unlike the LSAT, a test of content -- so these people have already taken a year each of bio, general chemistry, organic chemistry, and physics). Of those, a little over 40,000 apply to med school. Of those, about 18,000 get into even one school and matriculate.

And getting into, say, UCSF is a little different from just getting in at all (in the same way that getting into HLS is different from getting into a Tier 2). Med schools are also much smaller than law schools (think a couple dozen per entering class instead of several hundred), so any particular admissions decision is more random and fluky than any particular law school decision.

On the other hand, when I say that I teach MCAT for The Princeton Review, I never have to do any of the weird dancing around the subject that I have to do when I say that I teach LSAT for TPR. Our LSAT course is good but not well-known; our MCAT course is hands-down the best and also well-known.
