Are the ED applications typically less competitive as a whole because it is normally more of a reach for students? I just noticed the acceptance rate of the numbers that you provided was lower quite a bit lower than U of I's rate last cycle.

Thank you for posting
That is part of the reason. The other is that each year it gets a little harder to get in.
I'll be okay...(to self) I am a special snowflake, I am a special snowflake...

Dean Pless,

I saw that earlier in the thread, you recommended that someone who wanted to submit a supplemental essay after going complete should e-mail it for inclusion in their file. I am in the batch of early completes that you have just started reviewing, but I too regret not including some information in my file. Is it too late for me to submit a supplemental statement?

Thank you very much (although knowing that being sub-median on both quantitative metrics gives one a near impossible chance of admission as a non-URM has pretty thoroughly bursted my bubble- I figure it couldnt hurt :))

Do you expect this cycle to be as brutal as last year?

If you think that there is something additional that we should know before making a decision, you should definitely send in an addendum.

I'm complete as of 11/11, can't wait for it to go in review! This is one of my top choice schools... I want a state school in the midwest, so Illinois, Minnesota, and Iowa are my hopes.

GPA 2.94
LSAT 171

Hmm I thought you just said in the Colorado thread it was one of your top choices?

Why the hate?

Regardless, looking forward to hearing back from Illinois.

Didn't he say it was one of his top choices? There can be more than one top choice...

Whaaat? Sorry :(
I guess I just get aggrivated when people run around to every thread and call each school on of their "top choices" or something like that. It's okay if a school isn't your top choice :) My baaaaad! Sheesh.

and ohme...: Sure, a top choice, or two, but that would make 4 haha. Most people only apply to a handful of schools or so, half of them can be your top choice?

Geez, everybody take a chill pill. You can have a few "top choices." And I don't think Pless is petty enough to track down who this dude is and ding him because he has another school he wants to go to as well. For the majority of applicants to any given school, that school is not their top choice.

You're right... I guess I consider top choices my top 5. Illinois is in my top 3, and adding Colorado and Kansas make it 5 :-)

Colorado is kind of an outlier, because it's farther away from home then I want to be... But I'm a snowboarder at heart, so I can justify a 10 hour drive to see my family if I can be a 2 hour drive from my favorite resorts!

I like your attention to detail and your attitude, Barbie. Maybe I'll base my decision on either
A) Going to school WITH you so we can butt heads in class daily or
B) Avoid you altogether

:-D
