If anyone is interested, I have a nicely renovated 3BR/1.5BA house that is 4 blocks from the law school (a 5 minute walk). New kitchen, huge front and back yard, wood floors, central a/c, lots of parking, etc. Price is $1500 for the house, which includes regular lawn service. The neighborhood is very quiet and is primarily law/grad students (I lived there myself when I went to UF Law). You can go home in between classes and will never have to worry about parking. Message me if you'd like more info.thewarflamingo wrote:Barbie-If you end up choosing Tulane over UF, can we call dibs on renting your house in Gainesville?

Yeah, Deuce also knows of a house almost exactly like this thats 2 blocks or so from the law school! So theres definitly a lot of housing options. I looked at literally 20 houses the day I was there and decided the extra mile was worth the price difference (for example, 1500/3= 500 before utilities, 1300/4= 325) but you won't have to worry about parking if you walk!LevinAlum wrote:If anyone is interested, I have a nicely renovated 3BR/1.5BA house that is 4 blocks from the law school (a 5 minute walk). If I decide to go to Tulane I'll post the actual ad that got me interested in the house and I def won't be offended if you guys take it. You just have to promise me you'll throw at least ONE party in it (the yard is begging for it)

Right. The houses that are within reasonable walking distance of UF Law are typically older and smaller (the housing stock is from the 1920's-1950's, as opposed to the 1960's-1970's ranch style houses in the neighborhoods that are further from the law school). You're essentially paying a premium for the location: being able to walk to classes, the sporting events, the Midtown bars/restaurants, etc. It's a matter of personal preference.Barbie wrote:Yeah, Deuce also knows of a house almost exactly like this thats 2 blocks or so from the law school! Received a large packet from UF today assuming it was something in relation to the need based money, and it just was their law magazine

Does anybody know who I send a LOCI interest to? Is it possible to just send it through email, or is that something I should send through the mail?

I sent one through email to admissions a few nights ago, they notified me the next morning that they'd received it and would be adding it to my file (cheers to them for promptness).orioles88 wrote:Does anybody know who I send a LOCI interest to? 159/3.83... anybody think that's a for sure waitlist? The longer I wait somehow the better I feel that it's a waitlist and not a rejection. I got waitlisted by Notre Dame today so that made me feel slightly better.

Funny you say that, I got snail-mail today but it was just a letter from the dean encouraging me to enroll. Hey buddy, I already paid the deposit and sent in the forms. The only interaction I want from now until August is $$$ lol

Sounds like it could be a waitlist...we have similar numbers so I'm also hoping for a waitlist instead of rejection. Just a word of advice though, you might have better luck with UF if you removed that sassy Hines Ward avatarAro5389 wrote:159/3.83... anybody think that's a for sure waitlist? I found out through email because I was discussing having my deposit deadline pushed back. I know the committee met on Wednesday and made a decision on my file. I haven't received the snail mail packet yet, but it should be here soon.FeelTheHeat wrote:When you guys got the need-based aid, how did you find out?

I got a need-based aid offer today.... it was also due today. I ended up faxing them the form tonight saying that I accepted the offer but I hope they don't redistribute my money because I didn't get it in on time. I'd be pissed if that was the case.

No.. my personal deadline was April 8th to accept. I'm sure they do it in batches and will be waiting to see how many people accept the offers first before sending out more. I know that I was accepted in November and filled out the form as soon as I got my W2's in January so they had my app for a while and I would assume that those who applied later will get later offers as well.FortuneFavorsTheBold wrote:Wait, so they're done giving out need based aid?hurricane10 wrote:I got a need-based aid offer today.... it was also due today. Wow, I applied to UF back in Nov and completely forgot about them. I got invited to the admitted students day reception but never got an acceptance letter, I called and they said I got in. Def the best school with an acceptance so far. Also got a lil merit based scholarship from them, but would like some more $ for that OOS tuition. Too late to apply for need based?

If you were accepted after the 15th of February you have until the 15th of April to fill out the form...g-children wrote:Wow, I applied to UF back in Nov and completely forgot about them.
