Hahahaha that made me laugh irl.... I should've said I have an irrational fear of living around a bunch of drunk UGs (like I do now and have been for the past 4 years or so).rman1201 wrote:You're gonna love Gainesville.ns77770 wrote: alright thanks, I have an irrational fear of UGs that I must deal with lol.....

To be honest, I live in an "Undergrad filled" complex, and I've only ever once had an issue with a party being obnoxiously loud etc. Avoid Gainesville Place, as I've heard bad things about it being a 24/7 pool party, but other than that, you won't be surrounded as much as you think you might be.

I arrived in Gainesville today from Texas and I must say that I freaking love it here!!! I got to check out the football stadium, basketball stadium, took a picture with Albert and Alberta, and walked through the law school a bit. I even bought a UF law shirt from the bookstore. This place is awesome!
For the person who asked about living at the plantation, my aunt lives over there and it's really nice and quaint. It seems like a great area and everyone I've met is incredibly nice over here. It's a bit of a distance from the school, but it's not that bad.

I actually don't mind a little distance to be honest, I commute a long way to school now and the drive allows me to get focused a bit and just get ready for the day.thewarflamingo wrote:I arrived in Gainesville today from Texas and I must say that I freaking love it here!!! You know what, last year was, admittedly, horrendous, but this year I have been able to find parking at almost any time of the day. Granted if you get to school past 10:30 you might face some adversity, but for the most part it hasn't been too bad. And if you get to school before 9 you're guaranteed to get something close.gatorlizzy28 wrote:It would probably be about a 20-30 minute drive to campus. The big problem would be the fact that parking is the biggest nightmare you could imagine on campus. You have to pay a lot of money to park in a lot that won't necessarily be anywhere near where you need to be, and definitely isn't guaranteed to have spots available. The buses or ability to walk/bike makes living close to the law school much more convenient overall.

That and the awful traffic. It's never really a 'relaxing' drive anywhere in Gainesville. It feels like a city that was planned/engineered for about 10% of the current population.gatorlizzy28 wrote:It would probably be about a 20-30 minute drive to campus. Does anyone know what motorcycle parking is like around the law school? Is it readily available? Is there covered parking nearby? I plan on bringing my bike to law school and this information would be great!

there's plenty of parking for bikes on campus. The law school lot has a bunch of spots but they're not covered. The only covered places you;ll find on campus are in the garages which are out of the way in terms of getting to the law school.

Parking is almost always readily available for motorcycles in Gainesville but if it doesn't have any scratches on it yet, prepare yourself.Neo wrote:Does anyone know what motorcycle parking is like around the law school? Sounds like you had a bad experience...? Other than that, yes motorcylce/scooter parking is the most open and available on campus, ESPECIALLY at the law school there is no problem.gotcha wrote:Parking is almost always readily available for motorcycles in Gainesville but if it doesn't have any scratches on it yet, prepare yourself.Neo wrote:Does anyone know what motorcycle parking is like around the law school? UF has horrendous parking, no doubt. But if there is anywhere on campus where it is likely to be fine/open, it is the law school. And even if somehow every spot in the law lot is taken, frat row and its plentiful parking is a stone throw away.gatorlizzy28 wrote:It would probably be about a 20-30 minute drive to campus. How nice are the ladies dressing? I'm thinking I'm going to pull out the slacks but I'm thinking sleeveless because its going to be hot.

+0.5. I work in a professional environment and we have a 'business casual' dress code. Shorts and polos are good to go, but we are not allowed to wear open-toed shoes or shoes without backs.InvictusFortis wrote:It's florida, business casual is shorts and sandals.

Just an FYI, the entire Florida Supreme Court is going to be at UF tomorrow for the Moot Court Competition. I am not sure if they're going to let you guys introduce yourselves, but I would dress nice.

Yeah. And Fred Levin was here today (yes, that Levin), so there are bound to be a bunch of prominent people like that around UF tomorrow. They sure scheduled the ASW on the right day...Neo wrote:mistergoft wrote:Just an FYI, the entire Florida Supreme Court is going to be at UF tomorrow for the Moot Court Competition. Dang. I just picked out my outfit and now I'm worried it isn't professional enough. It's a cute knit tank over a white cotton tank above kahki colored slacks and cream colored heels with a bit of an open toe. Grrrr....mistergoft wrote:Yeah. Six? Possibly. I have an interview in Orlando at 2pm so I will likely but not definitely be back before six.Barbie wrote:k I'm wearing it then.
