Attended the alumni/admitted students dinner in Chicago last night; had a good time. Unfortunately didn't get a chance to get to know all of you that were there. I'd be interested to know what other students thought. Also planning a visit before the march date. So if any of you are interested in talking IU, feel free to message me.
Cheers

Nope, haven't heard a peep. Although I'm hoping otherwise, I just have a feeling that it will be a few more weeks.

Re: IU Bloomington Class of 2014
Let me tell you about this bullshit IUB just pulled on me
So I get home and see a large, thick white envelope in my mailbox. I run up the stairs and see the IU logo on the front and start jumping up in down. I grab the mail, run inside, throw everything on the floor and rip open the package. I applied back on the 14th of January with a 167, so I was praying for an acceptance and a nice scholarship. IUB is my top choice, so I thought I had finally hit the jackpot!!
Instead, its a letter thanking me for my application, telling me "we look forward to reviewing" it, and inviting me to apply to the Indiana CLEO program. I was so mad I could shit a brick

I got my acceptance package (with no prior email or notification) before Christmas. The packet is very impressive, and it came in a big USPS envelope. Be on the lookout, because there's no warning.

Entitled? No.
Viciously fooled by an acceptance packet-like mailing from my top choice? Yes.

Re: IU Bloomington Class of 2014
Sorry all, I got sick with the flu this week and kind of got thrown off schedule! I did make the trip and it was great. I will post pics this afternoon when I get home. As a prelude, I will say that they definitely do it justice. It was a dreary day and I am far from a great photographer. However, the campus is beautiful! If I wasn't convinced before Sunday, I am now.kcfella wrote:I am really looking forward to these. How was the trip?RooksWS6 wrote:I'm driving down this weekend and will post pics probably Sunday.

my brother is currently a 1L at IUB, he was planning to go to a different school and then an IUB alum convinced him to visit the campus and he said that made his decision for him! He really likes it there so far.RooksWS6 wrote:Sorry all, I got sick with the flu this week and kind of got thrown off schedule! I did make the trip and it was great. this is the 3rd time on TLS i've seen a URM poster singled out as being "entitled." A bit backwards from a societal standpoint, I'd say.
Cowgirl, good luck! I'll bet your acceptance is coming soon.

Uh, didn't know he/she was a urm and had no impact on my statement. Poster was singled out because he/she was the one that made what I thought was a ridiculous rant - heaven forbid a university send you anything except a packet thanking you immediately for applying and bending over backwards to admit you at the mere angelic sound of your LSAT score.ShuckingNotJiving wrote:

Stop trying to inject race as an issue when it was completely irrelevant.
And FWIW, "viciously fooled"? C'mon. There is absolutely nothing vicious about sending out an information packet. That being said, yeah - good luck to all. I hope everybody ends up in a school they like.

bro you don't have to hate just because you can't relate. Most people awaiting decisions right now are on edge, and granted poster was a bit extreme in her descriptions, I think most people here understand how she feels.TommyK wrote:Uh, didn't know he/she was a urm and had no impact on my statement. I totally get where cowgirl bebop was coming from and empathize with her disappointment when the packet turned out to just contain information not a decision.lsatextreme wrote:bro you don't have to hate just because you can't relate. However, in TommyK's defense, there have been a handful of people on this board who, upon seeing the large sums of cash IUB is throwing around, have come to expect they they, too, will receive $40k/year or have expressed disdain that they only got $120k and not full tuition or more. That attitude is, frankly, pretty obnoxious. I honestly don't think cowgirl_bebop has that attitude, but her use of the word "jackpot" probably gave TommyK the wrong impression.
