Is anyone going to the PT ASD on the 23rd? Also, has anyone spoken to SMU about possibly deferring until next year?

The main disadvantage I have heard about the JD/MBA program is the cost and the extra year in school spending money instead of making money. What if you are a in the part time program? Is there a disadvantage since you will be at SMU 4 years anyways?Thirteen wrote:I know of one 1L currently in the JD/MBA program, but haven't asked around to see if anyone else plans on applying for it.ebo wrote:How popular is the JD/MBA program? The part-time JD/MBA takes 5 years. I haven't really looked into the pros and cons of getting an MBA, so your best bet would probably be to contact someone in the admissions department and ask them to give you the contact info of a few JD/MBA students.sceva31st wrote:The main disadvantage I have heard about the JD/MBA program is the cost and the extra year in school spending money instead of making money. What about the part-time JD/MBA/LL.M/S.J.D program? I want to stay at SMU forever!Thirteen wrote:The part-time JD/MBA takes 5 years. An MBA is probably even more worthless than a JD.
You can go down to the local homeless shelter and find hobos with MBA's.

Yea I feel like it's not even that I'm busting my ass to get a good grade, it's just to ensure that I don't get a C or worse. It's like I'm trying to put together a mixtape to get a girl to like me but instead of the worst thing that can happen being getting turned down, its being in crippling law school debt for the next 30 years. And sadly I think I'd have a better chance with the mixtape.kalvano wrote:No shit. I have been working on this thing every day over break. It's ridiculous.

"The making of a great compilation tape, like breaking up, is hard to do and takes ages longer than it might seem. You gotta kick off with a killer, to grab attention. Then you got to take it up a notch, but you don't wanna blow your wad, so then you got to cool it off a notch. There are a lot of rules. Full of stuff she likes. Full of stuff that make her happy. For the first time I can sort of see how that is done."kalvano wrote:

How is the motorcycle parking at SMU? Does it exist? Is it close to the buildings, similar to handicapped parking? Does it seem safe? I don't want to leave it in the middle of no where and return to find it stolen or kicked over.
That was one of the advantages of being a student senator at my undergrad. I had it installed in front of every building that didn't have M/C parking.
I live in Tyler and I was considering riding my bike to the dinner as a way to save on gas especially since it has be PERFECT outside the last few days, but leather jacket with huge skull on the back may not be the impression I want to make?

Re: SMU 2011
You should get a pass for the law school garage for any dinners. There's plenty of parking and it's right next to the school.

Anyone else get a call about the Sarah T Hughes scholarship? I was out of the country on vacation. I guess I will figure out what it is all about on Monday.

Re: SMU 2011
Are quite a few people still waiting to hear back from SMU? I went complete in late November, was notified I was being held for review in January, and have heard nothing since. Is it likely I'll hear before April 1st or are they known for dragging things out even further? Has anyone tried calling admissions? I applied for both full and part time and my numbers are 164/3.51. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!
