I was under the impression that it was a former affiliation. Are they still loosely connected, then?ebo wrote:Negative. It's a very loose affiliationPSUFB1114 wrote:What puts the "Methodist" in SMU? Are there religious requirements?
goarief wrote:I'm IN!!! PT evening. I had applied to both and was really holding out for the day program, have a family and the day program fits our schedule better but I really wanted to attend SMU and applied for both. This means I have to keep my options open to other schools, but this is where I want to be, unfortunately when you are in a family you can't make the choice yourself.
Congrats to everyone getting in today! Thank goodness they let us know. And I am sorry for all of those that didn't get the answers they hoped for.
I thought about asking later in the cycle about getting switched to day but I heard in previous blogs that SMU admissions does not like to be asked this. Anyone know?
What about attending a different school then transferring into the day program after the first year? Any thoughts?
(Please don't get me wrong, SMU is still my #1 choice, period, but I have to consider all the options and the feedback would be great.)
Thanks!
Honestly, I'm not positive. I remember when the Bush Library/think tank was being proposed,, there were some Methodists that wanted the church to block it from happening at SMU. Not sure what the church's influence is though, if any.Jackson Pollock wrote:I was under the impression that it was a former affiliation. Are they still loosely connected, then?ebo wrote:Negative. SMU UG and 1L here. Methodists Started school way back when, that's about it. No real connections anymore, at least I've never noticed one after 5 years of being here. Never had to take any religion class or anything like that. I think they'd take the "Methodist" out of SMU, but who would want to go to "Southern University"?ebo wrote:Honestly, I'm not positive. Haha. Funny. Wait, this is a joke, right?ebo wrote:I will have to watch the Factor tonight and see who Bill-O supports before taking a stand one way or anothersimontemplar wrote:Just a quick note fyi:
A lot of people are going to wear red, white, and black tomorrow to show support for the Egyptian people. The US State Dept. has supported the Mubarak regime for decades and American tax dollars are paying for the weapons being used against everyday Egyptians. I know that the concern is that a new extreme dictator may not be any better than what they have now...and that is pretty scary. (For now it seems the Muslim Brotherhood is backing El Baradei (a moderate))....but regardless of the outcome, I think these people deserve our support and to be honored for their courage.
Nope, was actually looking forward to a call.timmah427 wrote:Did anybody else get a call in addition to the status checker update? I got one at about 4:00 today, said packets will hopefully arrive later this week (and will include scholly info).

No, I was completely kidding about wondering why you posted something completely and totally unrelated to acceptance / denial / questions about SMU in the thread devoted to questions about SMU / acceptances / denials.simontemplar wrote:lol seriously?kalvano wrote:I was more wondering what the original post by simontemplar was doing in the SMU 2011 thread.
