Got an email saying I might have been overpaid federal funds at the undergrad level. Gives me a link to financial aid forms but doesn't tell me which form I need to fill out/send in. Gives me a number to Dept. of Ed. but the number is wrong. Talked to two people who have no idea what I need to do. Left a message and an email for Mr. Eddy (who I think is finally the right person to deal with) but I haven't heard back yet.

Good luck getting him on the phone. Until I saw him with my own two eyes at orientation, I thought he was a myth.

Always make your budget assuming that you will not receive your refund until after school starts. You also need to make sure that you've done everything necessary to receive financial aid. The financial aid office will not be communicating with you. You will be on your own. Also, don't rely on anything said by the people who answer the phones in the financial aid office. They're mostly students.

I believe Elvis is seen on campus more frequently than Mr. Eddy.

Any movement off the waitlist since the June 1st deposit deadline? I guess a couple days may be a little too soon to expect anything... ;)

I have the same curiosity. I'm thinking it'll be another 1-2 weeks at a minimum. They need to process all the deposits (some may still be in the mail), check for double-depositors and then see what's left. I think the week of the 13th is possible but that's really an educated WAG. Also JN is out of the office this week. Plus they were less expeditious than most schools during the ED and RD process so it could be later in June or July or the dreaded August.

My friend is wondering this as well. Any updates would be appreciated, so I can pass them on.

My interpretation of that comment was that he finally deposited. I could be wrong, though.

Would you mind posting or PMing what the person said?

Finally got to it. All paid up. School again in 2 months
Thanks. It sounds like he finally paid his deposit, not that he got off the waitlist. I'm holding onto hope that there is some movement next week which would be an awesome birthday present, SMU.

Hey everyone, I'm going to request removal from the waitlist (hopefully opening up a spot for someone here). One problem, though - I don't have my waitlist letter in the country that I'm currently in, and I can't remember who I'm supposed to e-mail. Does anyone here have that e-mail address? Thanks in advance.

I'm sure you'd be fine just using the general admissions email address.

General would be fine, I've corresponded with it and depending on the message they just forward it to the relevant full timer. I'm also fairly sure (don't have it infront of me), that the WL letter listed the general inbox. Also, thank you so much for taking the time to be considerate of other people on the WL and withdraw since you are no longer interested, it's greatly appreciated.

Withdrew just now. Decided not to attend law school after all. The Sarah T Hughes scholly offer made it incredibly difficult, but I think I made the right decision. Hopefully it goes to some deserving member on TLS.

Well, now that the initial person who asked is not attending, throwing my books and supplements back out there for anyone who is interested.

I would loooove to see some waitlist movement already...

On one hand this seems like a logical week for waitlist movement given the deposit deadline of the first. On the other hand SMU has been significantly slower than other schools throughout the cycle. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Can somebody recommend a resource for locating a rental house?

Oh god I hope they don't take their sweet time this late in the cycle. I'm actually kinda wishing I had marked both FT and PT on my application now. Oh hindsight...

You can contact them and add PT, if you're open to it I suggest doing so ASAP.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
