Last year LSN reported 18 EA/ED applications and 3 this year, with 2 denies and 1 accept when the numbers are plugged into lawschoolpredictor. Granted, LSN is not a representative sample, but just within the LSN population that's a staggering drop. Personally, I'm freaking out because all my letters of recommendation mentioned ND specifically and I'd assumed I'd have an answer by now so now I'm scrambling trying to get new letters. And the delay refers to the 1st wave, which last year went out November 2nd, then the 2nd wave on the 16th. As far as I know there have been no notifications at all, which puts them 17 days behind as compared to last year.

Submitted last week, went complete today and was told I'm in the queue for review. We shall see.

Starting to think Notre Dame is hoping for more applications---probably got a huge drop this year with the binding early decision--in the past they had such a nice system to get an early acceptance with early action but no that its binding I bet many people just chose not to apply...Especially with their small class size I dont see how they'll be able to admit many of their ED applicants....seems their cut-off is about a 166 with a hihg gpa and 167 with medium gpa

That might be true for other schools but ND has consistently emphasized admitting people who want to be there according to the last few years of TLS threads. Last I checked their motto is still educating a different kind of lawyer, not getting a different set of numbers. It could be that only a few of the very small ED applicant pool will be accepted, but it could also be true that making it binding leaves only the hardcore ND fans and if ND is consistent in their patterns from previous years they could be generous with ED acceptances and then pad the numbers later. This is all speculative though, for all we know behind closed doors ND overhhauled their strategy from previous years. Who else is super frustrated they applied in 2010 rather than any of the previous years?

Hope you're right about the "different kind of lawyer" and that making any difference about admissions but if you look at LSN its pretty clear that there is an LSAT/GPA cut-off---in fact ND is known for this as much if not more than any other school...a 164 and 4.0 GPA is pretty much auto-WL no matter how much you say you love ND....in fact, the only way ND love matters is if a person with great numbers 3.97/170 applies and does not give a "why ND" essay, they will then be waitlisted....but nobody that is non-urm with a 164 or lower will get in ED....thats my prediction...hope im wrong and that they do look at more....but to get in ED im betting a miniumum of 165/3.85+, 166/3.7+, 167/3.5+, and 168, 2.5+.....we'll see soon though

you are talking as if they are more selective with their ED applicants. is that true?

It wouldn't make any sense for them to be more selective following a drop in ED applicants. If they're more about numbers now and fewer people are doing binding early decision then this year seems to be more likely that people would choose other schools, thereby making the yield part of the rating equation important.

Thier top goal: Higher median LSAT, Higher Median GPA, Higher 25/75 of both. "Yield" will not get any non-urm accepted below a 164. They will risk higher acceptance rate long before guaranteed admits with numbers that will hurt their goals to move up in the rankings....sorry if it seems harsh but that is the reality of rankings and schools trying to move up....ND will have no problem getting enough 167 LSATs (even if they have 3.0s) to keep that median high and then more than enough 165/166 with 3.7+ They know what they are doing but I do think the reason for their late or delyaed admissions is to see more of the pool before accepting anyone...if they had had a great pool of ED applicants they would have admitted them already....even for them its a numbers game and they are trying to keep those numbers as high as they can....Im sure in their dream theyd love to push the medial up another point this year (sadly much more than accepting people that really "love" the school)....not worry about the yield....think they will be very stingy in admissions this year

The LSAT has never been their Achilles' heel though, their LSATs are high compared to schools ranked around them. If their goal is to lock up lots of high LSATs why not sucker EDers into $0 scholarship while pushing up their GPA and pull out the big bucks for the high LSATs?

There's a lot of baseless speculation in this thread.

Lots of ND Dreamers on here as well as speculators....not sure why so many think the LSAT isn't a BIG deal to ND??? Kinda funny to me actually how a dream can cloud reality.

As to the 3.75/165--pretty sure that will be a WL--almost certain in fact. If you are a major legacy then you could get in--most likely a WL--with a good chance of being accepted june-aug

I'm still holding out hope for a decision by Christmas. My lsat is over the 75th and my gpa is over the median, but I'm still nervous. I also need to get a scholarship.

So you think a 164, 3.84 with 3 years WE will most definitely get me WL?...we'll see.

Not trying to be mean or harsh....but, unless there is some crazy 3 years of work (assistant to the President and cured cancer) or URM then WL is 95%+....anything can happen though

I just hope that they make their decisions soon. I will be Rejected or WL at best but I just want some finality, all of my schools are sitting on their hands.

Also,

Just look at LSN data for 164 if that helps....there was one admit...and 2 for 165....if you look here though it does seem to show that about any 167 has a great chance....even with a 2.9 and no WE....I dunno: http://notredame.lawschoolnumbers.com/stats/0910/

25% of the 2010 entering class had an lsat of 162 or lower...

these people do get accepted, and they are not all URM's.
