Acceptance packet was mailed Monday? Priority mail is advertised as 2-3 days. Even a blizzard delay of 2 days would have put it today. We'll treat this as an anomaly for now until a theory other than chaos is proposed.bergg007 wrote:J. Cheever Loophole wrote:Nothing today.
From studying the mail patterns, it seems all the acceptance packets have arrived on the third mailing day except angiej who lives within a few hours of Notre Dame.
Therefore:
if they sent a packet on Thursday, it would arrive Monday.
if they sent a packet on Friday, it would arrive Tuesday.
No one should ever receive a ND acceptance packet on Wednesday, except in the case of angiej, because it only took 2 days (could hold true for other northern Indiana/Michiana, Chicagoland residents).
Monday mailings mean a Thursday arrival.
Tuesday mailings mean a Friday arrival.
Wednesday mailings mean a Saturday arrival, and as noted, this past Wednesday the office was not open due to the blizzard.
Apparently, emails are scheduled to coincide with the arrival of the packet. Can anyone falsify this? (Accepted by mail, no email whatsoever?)
Mailed monday, still not here... consider your theory debunked.

Oh... Waitlist and rejection letters are not being sent priority mail, to my knowledge... This could also be a factor here, but hopefully not.

Good luck. We have similar stats. I haven't heard from NDLS yet but would be willing to ride a WL out too.teleste wrote:Monday February 7, 2011:
Waitlisted at NDLS.
I'm willing to ride this one out until the first week of September...
Anyone have any advice/strategy on how to sneak in to my dream-reach-ideal-Irish-school?
PM me please.

I still have not heard any news from Notre Dame. Should I take this as a reject/WL?

Re: Notre Dame 2014 applicants
I am curious why do people choose Notes Dame over other schools who give out more money. I've been offered 120 at IU, 90 at Illinois, and 60 at WUSTL. It appears people with similar numbers as I aren't getting nearly that much money. I like Notre Dame but for similar job prospects I don't think I could turn down the money. Im curious to hear other people's opinions. Why would you choose ND over a peer school with more money?

Re: Notre Dame 2014 applicants
When did you apply? The only people that should be worrying are those that have been told they should get a decision within 10 days and it is taking longer than that.SrLaw wrote:I still have not heard any news from Notre Dame. Should I take this as a reject/WL?
The people worrying here are those that were complete early to mid November and around there. No one who applied in December or January should be worried at this point because ND is at a good 12 weeks average decision time.
And as to the post about Why ND over peers with more money and similar prospects, it is because of the community and the Catholic culture, at least for me.

I went complete on 11/15, called today and was told something would be in the mail in the next two weeks

Waitlisted over the weekend. I was thrilled, with my numbers everything was predicting a definite NO. I feel like Notre Dame is one of the only schools that truly looks at your entire file, not just scores.

Re: Notre Dame 2014 applicants
It's really hard to explain. If you don't have that special connection to ND that a lot of people have (including me) then it is probably not worth it. Illinois offered me 30K/yr as well, and I sort of considered it, but it would have taken more than that to get me to leave here. perhaps you should come here and visit, maybe you will realize this is the place for you. If not, I would take Illinois out of those options.bball25 wrote:I am curious why do people choose Notes Dame over other schools who give out more money. Complete 11/17 and waiting...hoping for some good news! But as many others have said, 12 weeks seems to be the norm..derrminater wrote:I went complete on 11/15, called today and was told something would be in the mail in the next two weeks

This might be a dumb question: How does everyone know when their application went complete? I'm driving myself crazy trying to find an admissions status website. HELP.
