You just another candidate to them -- not "one of their own." Very few schools think that way any more.

YPing an alum is retarded.

How far below the GPA median are you?

But YPing occurs because the school things the candidate is unlikely to attend. Being their alma mater is a huge factor in deciding where to go.

WL because they don't want him makes sense. WL for YP makes none.

eh, lots of schools waitlist tons of people. I wouldn't read too much into it. If your GPA's below median, then that's why you got wait listed.

GPA/softs aren't what they are looking for and therefore they gave you a WL to see if some other high LSAT drops out.

I don't think you can legitimately call YP unless you are above both medians. (Though I have done the same thing. )

Depends on the schools acceptance patterns. For some schools it would be YP, other would be because they are borderline for admission.

They made a mistake in accepting you for the other program, and now they have a way of correcting that mistake, i.e. they just don't like you.

in reality, they may just be out of spots.
