This should give the non-URMs a glimmer of hope...

congrats dude! are you going to ride out the American WL or do you think you'll just decide to attend harvard?

My screen name was a poor decision. :( I am female; it's a reference to "Arrested Development": http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BznwsT6r_tM

Your screen name was an AWESOME decision. The best friends I've made at ASWs all knew about Arrested Development and love it. We actually had a pretty fierce debate about whether Penn or Chicago would be more conducive to mass viewings of AD.

It's a mixed bag for me. Glad to know there are/will be non-URM WL pulls, but in some sense, any pull that's not yours truly means one less spot.

PRs got admitted recently? It looks like it was all AA, no?

it has been mostly AA's, with a few other URMs, and a trickle of ORMs

I only know of one LGBT applicant getting in. Other than that, it seems to be all AA's and a couple ORMs.

Congrats! I wonder, why WL if they're just going to turn around and accept days later? It strikes me as very surprising that JR1 emails went out last week, the first week of May. Certainly blows my earlier theory to bits.

P.S.- stats/profile? So we can speculate wildly about the sort of candidates they're pulling. Are you for sure going? How much time did he give you to decide?

From what I have read on here they've given everyone two weeks I believe to decide. So, should we not expect anymore movement for the next two weeks?? Also when is the second deposit? Does anyone know when they do a first purge of the WL?

When you newly admitted folks say you had a JR1/JR2 combo, you mean you were admitted immediately during the first phone call, right? Or did that notification come afterwards, in the form of an email or another phone call?

I looked through 2008 year waitlist and there was an initial group offered admission early may, which has already happened this year. Then a very few got admitted the second week of June. Then in July around the 18th mass rejections went out, and on July 22nd one person got in.

Initial movement happened the 15 of May in 2009. Let me look up rest.

Not sure if this holds true for 2010 and I'll look at 2009 and a few minutes.

My son is sick so I can't really do anything except let him sleep on me, so I can browse the forum for a while. Hopefully he'll get better and we can do the things we need to today.

It was a different dean and a much different cycle, so I don't think you can really conclude anything from that.

I dunno it holds pretty true except 2009 was delayed due to the mid cycle dean switch...

Bulk of acceptances early May, a few in June, very very few in july with mass rejections in July...

I totally forgot about this! No wonder I figured WL pulls wouldn't start until mid-May. Now I feel sheepish. And likely to be rejected.

Last year rejections went out in August, but I think that was just due to the Dean switch and we can expect the mass rejections in July as it was every year before that. I know JR is a different Dean, but why rebuild Rome when it is already there? So I would think there will be a few accepted before then, but the mass rejections will come towards the end of July. Good luck to everyone waiting and hope you are one of the lucky few. :) I won't be on much after my son gets better, I have a lot of projects to finish up.

Congrats to those already in too.

Also, last year became a little flame war so the details were hard to pull out. Some people just started making up stuff they said they got from HLS... Annoying.
