wow, I knew it. A JR1 at this point in the game has got to be pretty much equivalent to an acceptance. The JR1 seems like it is just a formality.

I had my JR1 in December. So it was just a quick call. On my end, a quick, sweaty-palmed, completely incoherent call.
Congrats guys! DId you all send in LOCIs? I never did (I don't have anything to tell them other than Why Harvard), and I'm worried sick as to how much this might be hurting me right now.

I sent one in immediately after being waitlisted and another LOR.

Dear TLS,
Congratulations to all the recent acceptances!
I am thrilled to report that I received an initial decision on my application and was placed on the waiting list today!!
Thank you very much to this forum for all of your advice throughout this process. Being nearly a decade now out of undergrad, I relied on this forum for help throughout this process.
I was accepted to my dream medical school off the waiting list 3 days before classes started, so I know there is always hope! I will continue to do what I did then to convey my interest to HLS. I will be at HSPH in the fall to pursue my MPH. I have remained on the waiting lists of only the schools who will allow me to defer one year if accepted (after I pursue my MPH). So basically Harvard is my number one choice and I really want to pursue their combined JD/MPH program. I had to withdraw from Georgetown last Friday because in exchange for them granting my deferral they of course wanted a binding commitment for 2011. I had not yet heard from HLS at this point and wasnt comfortable making this commitment even though I felt like my sub25 LSAT made HLS a reach school, I kept dreaming. Now that I have a waitlist, I am just thrilled, because at least it keeps the hope alive. Is there anything I need to do besides let them know that they are my clear number one choice and that I would be willing to pack up and go at even the last minute since I'll be HSPH? How long after you received your waitlist letter did you send in your LOCI?
Thanks for your help!

Congrats to all of you! Judging by the #s being pulled off (and URM status) looks like I'm done-zo. Oh well, I'm still riding the wave. I'll probably send in an updated transcript/ LOCI after I get my Spring grades back. Unless it's too late...

I really think there are always people, even at HLS, that get in, in August, or at the last minute. I have personal experience of getting in off a waiting list three days before classes! Dont give up hope, Jolly.

If I recall correctly every single one has been a URM.. Strange, maybe they are doing that first and may go to everyone else soon?.....
Congrats to those who got in though.

Yep you are right, snowmonkey, here is a quote from him:
snowmonkey wrote:I don't really know if I'm an URM -- I'm a gay farm kid who grew up poor and homeschooled. Not your typical URM, I don't think. But I definitely count as Not Your Standard Harvard Law kid.
I saw URM and just thought he was... I was just going in to see Iron Man 2 when I saw the post. That was a great movie btw..

just to get this straight, when did the people who've recently done a JR1 and got their JR2 get their JR1 emails?

A bunch of the no-JR1's said they got them on Thursday of last week... Some of the JR2's today had their JR1 a while ago.

how long do the recent JR2 recipients have to decide whether or not to attend?

I'm curious about this as well. From the gist of the WL email it seemed like they were implying that if you get in off the waitlist they expect you to commit immediately.

Snowmonkey said they are giving him two weeks to decide.
