Congrats on the interview. If I may ask, did you send a loci after waitlist and if yes how did you send it?

Hey!

I did send a LOCI the second I found out i got wait-listed. I emailed it to them, and told them i was also visiting the school.

Did you have a significant update, or was it more just like 'hey, I'm still interested...pick me!' I wouldn't mind sending another LOCI, but I already sent one after I was held and I don't really have anything else to say but that.

It was mostly telling them I would be counseling at a summer camp..got a promotion at work..and taking some real estate community college classes. Nothing earth shattering, but I did throw a bit of why harvard in the loci.

That sounds like you had a legitimate update to give them (esp. your work promotion). My first LOCI was basically an ode to the awesomeness of HLS and why I'm dying to go there...another one in a similar vein might be laying it on too thick, haha. I might have a work achievement I can report on in another couple weeks, but that's probably too late (and it's also something my team accomplished as a whole, not just me, so that probably makes it less impressive to HLS). I don't really have a good reason to send another LOCI, but I also don't want it to seem like I'm not interested anymore.

It's such a precarious situation. Until yesterday, I was in the same vein wanting to keep them knowing I was alive, yet not wanting to come across as too desperate. My advice honestly is to wait. You don't want to send a letter early, and then another half letter when the promotion comes, so the best idea would be to combine them into a meatier letter which would then really show new updates. I really hope your the next JR 1-I'm trying to find my perfect answers for why Harvard in the next few days....I think trying to contain my desire might be the biggest hurdle=!

Yeah, my instinct is to also wait until I have something more concrete before sending another LOCI, so I will probably do so (but will kick myself if I get dinged first). Thanks for the good wishes, & I think if JR sees how enthusiastic you are about HLS, you are a lock! :D

Any other wait-lists receive JR1 invites today or yesterday?

you don't need the perfect answers, there is no perfect answer. I think the key, especially at this point in the game is just to let them know you actually want to go to Harvard and don't say anything ridiculous. I am sure you will be fine.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! You deserve it! Where will you be leaving?

Did he give you your JR2 in the same phone call as your JR1 or call you again a few minutes/hours later?

Congrats!

Thanks! I'll be leaving NYU -- I think. They offered me a lot of money and seem like a great school too. But I can't see myself turning down Harvard.

I had my JR1 in December. So it was just a quick call. On my end, a quick, sweaty-palmed, completely incoherent call.

Sorry Blue, missed your questions. 177 / 3.8. Public interest commitment, been out of school three years with interesting work experience. Unconventional personal history.

Nice! Did they give you a few days to decide? Do they provide you with your financial aid info before you have to make a decision? Are you a URM?

What happens when someone gets in off the waitlist and then gets in to their dream school. Do you lose the $500 deposit at School B once you accept school A. So if you first get into your third choice school and deposit, THEN get in off the WL to 2nd choice school, then get in off WL to 1st choice school, youre basically out of $1000 bucks right. I mean the schools dont have any sympathy when it comes to refunding you the deposit when you get in off a WL right? Anyway the money is pocket change compared to the satisfaction of getting in to your number one choice :) Just curious how it works with deposits and getting in off the waiting list.

Yeah ... I have no idea how the money works at all. I know I'd lose my deposit at NYU.

They gave me two weeks to decide. No talk about money, but I will try to leverage something at least.

I don't really know if I'm an URM -- I'm a gay farm kid who grew up poor and homeschooled. Not your typical URM, I don't think. But I definitely count as Not Your Standard Harvard Law kid.
