Discuss chances, new developments and other Yale waitlist miscellany here. Who's with me in embarking on a summer of waiting?

Joining in (an honor, btw). Here's hoping the number is closer to 20 than to 0.
FYI, Asha's blogpost from last year on how to be a responsible waitlister: http://blogs.law.yale.edu/blogs/admissi ... alker.aspx
Good luck, guys!

I'm on it for now. Unless I become obsessed with Harvard, I'll probably stay on it.

Re: Yale Waitlist 2010
I'm so on. NYU and Yale are the schools that make the most sense for me (public interest type AND potentially a future academic), so I will make up for my half-assed pursuit of other schools by continuing to pursue Yale super intensely. Got NYU long ago, but Yale... oh, Yale. Swoon.

I'm IN Not a big relief though.
Does anyone know what's the exact deposit deadline for those admitted? Based on LSN it looks like some movement could be anticipated later this month?

Out of curiosity, where is everyone going if they don't get off the WL?

Re: Yale Waitlist 2010
PSA: It seemed like everyone at the Stanford ASW this weekend was WLed at Yale (and in at Harvard), making me think the whole "we WL fewer than 100 applicants" claim is bogus. Then again, you could argue that the applicants most likely to be WLed at Yale are those in at HLS and/or SLS.
Anyway, I've withdrawn from the Yale WL, but good luck to the rest of you.

Re: Yale Waitlist 2010
I do wonder whether the "fewer than 100" counts those (like yourself) who immediately withdraw. It's not worded to sound that way, but I was suspicious as well (especially since the number waitlisted on LSN is usually close to the number accepted - which is not fewer than 100).crackberry wrote:PSA: It seemed like everyone at the Stanford ASW this weekend was WLed at Yale (and in at Harvard), making me think the whole "we WL fewer than 100 applicants" claim is bogus. Re: Yale Waitlist 2010
Hey everyone
Withdrew from the waitlist this morning after my SLS visit. I hope to see some deserving TLS folks get in during the summer (and, like nawktasy, am hoping your number is closer to 20 than none).
FWIW, I spoke to about 15 cross-admit folks at SLS this weekend who had withdrawn from Yale already or were set on Stanford, so hopefully that means movement will start sooner rather than later for everyone!

Thanks!
I am also wondering if the 100 includes all the people who instantly withdraw. In that case there should be only like 50 who stay on, making chances look a little too good. ???

Re: Yale Waitlist 2010
Do you really think 50 people would withdraw from the waitlist? I'd imagine that even those who put down deposits at SLS or HLS might stick it out if YLS is their first choice. I'd imagine there are about 70-80 that remain on the list, and from there, it's just a game of luck.chanchito wrote:Thanks!

Good luck to everyone who is hoping to snag a spot, and hopefully someone will be able to take advantage of the spot that I vacated!

Columbia or NYU. I don't freaking know yet and I'm panicking. What about you? Or anyone else for that matter?BlueCivic wrote:Out of curiosity, where is everyone going if they don't get off the WL?

Did you all get any kind of confirmation when you sent in the waitlist form? I feel like there should be some acknowledgment, but I'm hesitating to contact them b/c you know...the scary blog post thing.

No confirmation here (I emailed it to them).
Looks like NYU for me if I don't get lucky with Yale. Got word of a big scholarship this week and I'm starting to like the idea of 3 years in the West Village.

Re: Yale Waitlist 2010
no, I didn't apply. I think mostly cause I didn't want to go there and so why put myself through would probably would have been a rejection. If you don't want to date scarlett johanson, why ask her out?chanchito wrote:I wish! are you waitlisted here too?
Seriously? What are you waiting for?
