I applied to BU in January, haven't heard back in a while. So I called today, and the lady I spoke to said that a decision letter was mailed on Tuesday. Here's my problem: If I was admitted, wouldn't she have told me over the phone? Am I wrong?

Sometimes they don't give that info over the phone.. Did you ask her to tell you if you'd been admitted or not?

Well, I just assumed that they wouldn't give a denial over the phone. Pessimistic, I know. In retrospect, I guess I should have, you think I should call back?

I think you should just wait and see. You should be getting it soon.

I'm sure it wouldn't hurt if you called again... but if it were me, I'd just wait. They already mailed the decison so it'll only be a couple days. I know though, the waiting does suck.

Why do people always search for meaning in the most arbitrary of circumstances? Were your numbers well above BU's medians? If yes, then there's a good chance you've been admitted. If they weren't, then the news is probably bad.

I'm still waiting on 8, although I applied in early Feb (pretty late in the cycle). So I guess it hasn't been that long.
