I had the same question but reading through the thread it became clear that some of these applicants clearly had a T14 or bust attitude. I have no problem with that, but to me posting under "In @ Nowhere Club" is a bit misleading for such applicants, who surely could've gotten in somewhere. They should more aptly post under something like "Not In @ T14 Club."romothesavior wrote:Where did you people apply that you are getting in nowhere? Did you not apply to any safeties?
Not trying to sound like a jerk... I'm just genuinely interested. Did everyone just overreach and assume they would get into schools that they couldnt?

Cheers. We can form a club.AdamatUCF wrote:
If I were in your shoes, and a low-LSAT high-GPA splitter, that is exactly what I'd do!
Unfortunately, those of us in the opposite situation, with a good LSAT and an unacceptable GPA are hosed. Even if I went back and added points to my LSAT, even with a 180, my odds of getting in HYS with a 3.29 are practically zero. Even schools like NYU and Columbia are wait-listing people with 180/3.5. There's nothing I can do to fix a bad GPA due to classes taken more years ago than I care to admit.
Long story short, much like the rest of humanity, I'm wishing I had someone else's problem instead of my own.

If you only wanted to go to t14, and you didn't get in, then you are in the club. Why would you recommend someone apply somewhere where they would not want to attend school?
For the record, I applied to:
Rejection- W&M
WL-UVA, Minny, WUSTL, GW, L&C
Pending- Hastings, BC(decision in the mail), BU, UIUC, Seattle

I am one of those silly people who only applied to the ONE they would go to... so, because I applied to one, and have not heard from one I am in the club!
WHY, you may ask, would I be dumb enough to only apply to one? Well, I have good reasons. So... here is to the wait (lifts coffee cup, drinks, pours a little on the rug for my homies, may they reject in peace.)

I completely understand and I think you are smart. I applied to a bunch, but realistically, I only really want to attend one. So unlike you, I wasted a bunch of money, turned down every other offer and now I am in this club too! ugh.lovelyannalove wrote:I am one of those silly people who only applied to the ONE they would go to... so, because I applied to one, and have not heard from one I am in the club!

1 reject
1 WL (American)
2 in transit (pretty sure they are both rejects)
3 apps sent that were not even REVIEWED yet.

I think I should have applied to somewhere like Cooley just so I could have my ego patted.. I could use a little pat at the moment, even if I wouldn't think of attending it would still be nice to hear I am loved!CmonSD wrote:lovelyannalove wrote:So unlike you, I wasted a bunch of money, turned down every other offer and now I am in this club too! ugh.

Thanks! I wish I didn't love this place so much. It would really make things so much easier. I did that for a certain school in NJ. They gave me a fee-waiver, and I applied for fun. Said school is one of the schools that never bothered responding to me. What was supposed to be an ego-booster turned into anything but...lovelyannalove wrote:I think I should have applied to somewhere like Cooley just so I could have my ego patted.. One of my good friend just told me that her brother is going to Michigan for law school, and he was all excited. She told me because I was accepted by Michigan. I asked her where he was going and she said it started with "C". I didn't know what to say... I don't think he got a scholarship either.lovelyannalove wrote: I think I should have applied to somewhere like Cooley just so I could have my ego patted.. A 4T in NC. I am not just out of school person, title does nothing for me. I have worked for the Feds for a while and need the JD to move forward. I am not a URM and the school is a HBCU... I never want biglaw, actually, I know exactly what I will be doing once out, so the low $ of the 4T is exactly what I want. (Does seem really silly to be worried about getting into a 4T! I admit it!)CmonSD wrote:

I could go to UNC without moving my family (which is a really big deal) but the $ is really what I am focused on. I didn’t do well on my LSAT, but that is a good thing as I am in the 75% for the school I want. I did more than 20 pts higher on my pre-tests so if I decide to shoot for UNC I will have to retake (on a day that I DON'T find out my boyfriend of six years had a girl sleepover while I was out studying!) If I re-take I will be YP from the cheap school. I know what I will make when I get out and don’t want to be upside-down in debt - so am aiming low. “Aim Low, Reach Your Goals, Avoid Disappointment.”

Re: In @ Nowhere Club
I applied to a lot of schools at the bottom of T1 and the top of T2. Most were considered reaches for me. All of the schools on the upper end I would've loved to go to because of their programs, while all of the ones on the lower end I applied to were in places I would love to live. It was certainly reach heavy, but I couldn't in good conscience contribute to the problems of the legal industry by supporting a TTT with my tuition and flooding an already over saturated legal market. I'm perfectly ok with the idea of not going to law school (love my current career, have all the time in the world to reapply, etc), so only aiming at schools that were 100% worth the time/money, despite the low admission probability, was never a question. I fully support other posters who did the same. Aim high, don't settle.romothesavior wrote:Where did you people apply that you are getting in nowhere? Did you not apply to any safeties?

Am I pissed that it's going to take another LSAT and another year of apps and waiting? Sure, but better than a low ranked school, $200,000 + debt and no job after graduation.

Seriously. I am not about to give up my job that took over 250 resumes and nine months of searching to attend some school I never would have considered until they showed me $$. So, if USD doesn't work out this time around, I guess I will just have to hang out at the beach and attend Taco Tuesday on a weekly basis. Rough.......

Re: In @ Nowhere Club
When I applied to graduate school sometime back my girlfriend of six years cheated on me with one of my friends. The next week I got rejection letters from all of the schools I applied to. She ended up at Columbia in some master's program. Currently I'm struggling to see if one of the T14 accept me.lovelyannalove wrote:I did more than 20 pts higher on my pre-tests so if I decide to shoot for UNC I will have to retake (on a day that I DON'T find out my boyfriend of six years had a girl sleepover while I was out studying!)
The moral of the story is that perseverance is the patently irrational thing to do, but for some reason we do it anyway.
