Thx! Glad to know it isn't just me. I am just on pins and needles waiting on a decision considering my other seat deposits are due on the 15th. When did you apply. I sent an email to the admissions office to see what the deal is so hopefully I'll get a reply soon. I'll let you all know if I hear back from them.kw74 wrote:Mine is screwed up too.

My application went through on 12/15. I didn't hear a word from them other than confirmation that it went through until yesterday. That is when I received a thin letter saying that I was on their second review. I already have my seat deposits in for my backups (both were due 04/01) and my outside chance school UGA already denied me. Nothing like a little suspense and stress.

Waitlisted with a 165 and a 3.24. Ga State is retarded. I expected it to be a clear-cut safety for me.

Re: Georgia State University - 2010
I turned in my final forms a few days ago. I am quite happy to go to GaState, however I did accept being placed a waitlist at UGA. I already live in Atlanta so it seems it will workout nicely.
I scored a 163 and had a 2.65 gpa if anyone was wondering.
Look forward to meeting everyone in the fall!

I applied late- March 1. I just got a letter saying they need to review my application a second time. Is this normal? Should I take this as good or bad news...?
Has anyone else received a letter like this?

Got my acceptance letter in the mail yesterday, applied 3/1, if that's helpful to anyone.
I love its location in downtown ATL, but I won't be attending.

I also received the second review letter. It has been a little over a week ago. I don't know if it is technically a wait list or not. From the language of my letter it appears that they will make all of their decisions by the 14th. I just want an answer at this point. If I get in to state that is where I am going. I live and want to stay in the Atlanta area.

Has anyone who received a second review letter gotten a decision yet? I applied mid January, got a second review notice in early March... and nothing since. BAH!

I applied around the same time, and I received my letter around the same time. I was admitted in late March. Good luck!inalilwhile wrote:Has anyone who received a second review letter gotten a decision yet? I applied mid January, got a second review notice in early March... and nothing since. BAH!

Re: Georgia State University - 2010
GSU frequently gives out out-of-state tuition waivers. However, I'm pretty sure people were notified of them early in the acceptance process.
Aside from that, they have, I think, 2 (full) merit-based scholarships. Maybe it's more like 5. But it's a single digit number for incoming students.
Bottom line, I personally don't know anyone who got any discount off of in-state tuition. Because it's already so cheap, they really don't give out any money; they also don't have any to give as our budget has already been slashed this year. I scored above their LSAT median and got nothing. I know other people who scored 5-10 points above the LSAT median, and they also got nothing.
You should probably just plan on not getting any grants or scholarships. Then, if you happen to be incredibly lucky and get one, you'll be really happy/surprised.
I know someone this year who has an LSAT score of 165+ ( I want to say it's more like a 168) and an advanced engineering degree, and their negotiations with admissions about $$ were futile. Hate to say it, but it's not worth your time trying to bargain with them, it won't happen.......

I got a VERY small scholarship, but was a finalist for a full ride. But I think if I would have gotten the full ride, they would have made me give it back if I end up transferring... but I'll take it, it is free money.

Do most traditional law school students select the Day ONLY block or the Day/Evening block?

Re: Georgia State University - 2010
not sure of most, but I chose Day ONLY because I really do not want night/evening classes. I get up at the crack of dawn and am a morning person. But I imagine that having an evening class for those not morning people would be nice.lookingforlaw wrote:Do most traditional law school students select the Day ONLY block or the Day/Evening block?

For those who got put on hold... did you write a LOCI? If so, was it sent electronically or by snail mail?

Those who of you on the hold/second review did your letter say that a decision would be made by 4/15? I still haven't heard anything and I am debating whether to call them or not. Anyone else in the same boat?

I need to look at my letter again but I am also on hold and I am getting a little impatient. My status checker is the same.

Re: Georgia State University - 2010
I still haven't heard a peep from GSU. Back in mid-March, I emailed them about the status checker and I got a response that they would try to have all decisions made by May 1st. My status checker still says 'No decision at this time'. I was hoping for my decision before I paid a seat deposit elsewhere.

BTW, are the seat deposits for those already admitted to GSU due tomorrow? If so, maybe all of use that are still waiting will start to hear from them after tomorrow!
