Thoughts?

Any current GGU students in the HLP willing to shed some light?

School's rep makes me nervous, though I'm aware that GGU's making effort to better their school.

I applied in early January but haven't heard back yet.

I'm interested in GGU because I'm hearing that they are making some improvements, and if the scholarship I am hoping to get is enough, it could offer some pretty broad opportunities as far as what jobs I can take (as far as not needing something to pay off a $200k bill).

I'd really ponder what you want to do or where you want to work, and then look at the school's placement there.

I'd also take a close look at what it takes to keep that scholarship.

Then, I'd really consider your options with those things in mind.

I work across the street, my boss went there, and my friend goes there. Let me know if you have any questions about it's location or what-not.

Wow. That is a real school? I thought that it was some silly law school preparation company.

I've been living about 4 blocks up Market from where the school is for the past year.

I would, however, love to get some insight on the education and employment of the school.

Not only is it real, but at least one of its graduates was hired last year by the extremely competitive DOJ Honors Program:

Go figure.

Someone at a T4 making something of themselves? Impossible! Haha.

That's pretty cool though.

I was just accepted into GGU and the HLP. They offered a nice package and when I visited the school, I was very impressed. It's a contender. I know it's low-tier, but do people really have nothing better to do than make fun of it?

I also got into HLP with a scholarship.

Is it possible to stay in HLP if I want to transfer? Is it worth staying at GGU or should I try again at the LSATs and re-apply next year?

I kinda have been, in at GGU (solid scholarship + HLP), USF (decent scholarship), WL at Hastings.

I think the general wisdom will be that Hastings > GGU in almost any case, no matter the debt aversion. Maybe that's just my perception though.

USF vs. GGU? It's going to depend on goals, scholarships, and personal connections. Do your research into both schools.

USF>GGU in any situation. I am also from SF and GGU is only good if you know someone or want to start your own little PI firm or something. USF is a legit school that can help you land a good job, especially in the SF market.
Most people think GGU is a joke, but if you have connections it does not matter where you go, so go there if you have connections.

Are any of you from San Diego? Apparently the dean is coming down to take admitted students to dinner. Anyone going?

Hastings top USF and GGU any day. Sticker or not.

Between USF and GGU, I'd be willing to pay more for USF. Reputation of USF is solid compared to GGU. In addition, USF is moving in an upward trend - jump from T3 to T2. With that in mind, firms know of this jump and will look more favorably on USF. GGU, on the other hand, is crawling out of its negative reputation as being on probation. Granted, it's off probation, and granted, most recent BAR passage rate has improved tremendously. It's reputation has been heavily tarnished and it's going to take a very long time for improvement, at least more than the three years you'll be there.
