that makes sense, from what others above have said...so it seems they don't call to let you know your in? well i guess we'll find out soon enough

...maybe, but it also might mean that most of the letters going out are waitlist/denial letters.

I have not received any information from the university indicating they received my financial aid application (I don't have any expectations regarding a scholarship)

I tried calling yesterday and earlier this morning and I got an automated message saying they couldnt answer the phones, not sure if its busy or if they purposely know people would be calling so screen the calls and then reject them hahah

I haven't had an e-mail answered from Barbara Vinson yet either, and I sent it out two or three days ago. For a while they were calling me every other week or so to check in, now I can't get in touch to see if they're offer is enticing.

I got the automated message as well. Pretty sure they didn't even come in today. They are probably in left field having cocktails before the baseball game tonight.

Does anyone think it's possible that Ole Miss had finished contacting its admitted applicants earlier this month and they were simply deciding between waitlist and denial applicants during the last couple of weeks?

(I have not seen an "Accepted" student on LSN for quite some time)

I really can't imagine this being the case. I hope Ole Miss wouldn't waitlist/ reject me with a 161, 3.45 and strong softs and work experience.

A few applicants have updated their status on LSN within the last day with all three possible choices (acceptance, denial & waitlist) appearing...good luck to everyone.

If we may assist you in any way please contact our office at (662) 915-6910.

They are NOT assisting me by ignoring the phones for three BUSINESS days! LOL :P

Just a reminder about our Open House for Admitted Students Day on Friday, April 9, 2010.

If you have not responded but do plan to attend, please let us know as soon as possible.

You are welcome to bring a parent or spouse and we just ask that you let us know how many will be in your party.Dress will be casual; suits are not required.

We will begin our program at 9:30 a.m. on the third floor of the Law Center in Moot Courtroom I. The event should be over between 1:30 and 2:00 p.m.

After the conclusion of the program is a good time to take care of any financial aid matters that you have with the financial aid office or look for a place to live. We will also have apartment guides and maps available for those of you who plan to search for housing while here.

More information will be sent regarding the details of the program as well as parking
information and directions to campus.

We look forward to seeing you at the Open House. If you have any questions at all, please email me or you can reach me at 662-915-6815.

Sincerely,

I spoke to someone at the office yesterday, and she politely checked the status of my file and said I was "still under review" and not to worry, I would hear of a decision soon in the next week. I inquired as to what format this would be... she said definitely snail mail, but they try to call as many candidates as they can. Let's pray for good news! Good luck to all of you :D

Out of state admissions there are considerably more competitive, though your numbers are strong for either category. At this point, write an addendum restating your interest in the program, and if it's your first choice go ahead and tell them you'll send in your deposit and commit as soon as you get your acceptance. Oxford is a charming little town and the women are gorgeous. Hope you get in.

I called up the admissions office. The dean of admissions told me that my application was still in circulation. I asked her when I could expect a decision. She told me that my application is in circulation and that once each member of the admissions com. reviews the app the app is discussed at the admissions meeting which occurs every Thursday. She said they will not be having an admissions meeting this week because of the holiday. She basically said that no new decisions will be made until after next Thursday's admissions meeting. She told me that I could call back next friday and check on the status then. She did mention that I had strong credentials. I was surprised with how upfront she was about the process but am still dissapointed that I won't have a decision for at least another week.

Are you kidding me? Since when does a school get out for Holy Thursday!? I know for a fact Ole Miss has classes today and all the offices are open. They are only out for Good Friday, which the committee does not even meet on anyway.

If the committee to select the new mascot is anything like the law admissions office, we won't have a mascot for the next couple football seasons.

Worst & laziest admissions office I've dealt with by far.

Crazy huh?

But she said they were on there way out today... whatever that means.

I would think they would make a hugh effort to have decisions made by April 1st since many schools require deposits by that time.

Oh well, lets just hope we hear by the 15th

For what it's worth, I just talked to someone in admissions.

She told me the admissions committee IS meeting this afternoon. I'm guessing decisions made today won't be mailed until next Monday.

I was led to believe that a decision on my application would be made this afternoon. I applied on March 1. Possibly all later applicants (Feb-March) will be reviewed today.

Good luck to everybody.

do not depend on your own understanding.
Seek His will in all you do,
and He will show you which path to take."
