Not really. Ole Miss may break the top 100 (not necessarily due to the new building, though), but it will always be hovering around the 100 mark (IMO), give or take a few spots.

If you want to practice in the Mountain West & can handle that much debt, definitely choose Boulder.

If you want to be back in AL with very little debt, Ole Miss will probably serve you better.

Does anyone have some stellar insight into the pros of going to a cheap, regionally respected T2 school over a somewhat nationally well regarded, expensive as balls T1 school? I'm from Alabama, so I'm used to the cost of living that Oxford would require. Boulder, Co...not so much as I'm not used to paying 1,000 month's rent.

I would suggest you abandon all thoughts of Ole Miss and focus in on Boulder (since this would move the admission committee once step closer towards the waitlist).

Honestly, I would think about where you want to work when your done (unless you are well-connected or have no idea where you want to work)

I'm thinking a return to AL is inevitable (given certain circumstances), and just the thought of graduating with well over 100,000 in debt overwhelms me almost beyond manageability. I'm also worried that I'd end up graduating near the bottom percentage at University of Colorado (therefore, not making me a competitive job applicant & therefore unable to pay off massive amounts of debt), whereas I could see myself faring well academically at a place like Ole Miss (given the admission stats).

Well, you know for sure that you will have $100K debt once you graduate from Colorado and you really don't have any idea how you will end up in class rankings (I'm very suspicious of making linear conclusions scores on where people think they will place in a subset of a large group based on GPA/LSAT ...way too many variables to feel any kind of certainty with this conclusion even with an LSAT in the 99%; Also, IMO, undergraduate GPA is close to worthless as a prediction factor...I'm not sure why it is given even modest consideration in admissions).

On top of that, you're thinking about a return to Alabama? As much as I wish you would withdraw, Ole Miss seems like the proper conclusion

Am I overlooking this or am I correct in thinking there is no mention of a 2nd seat deposit in the acceptance packet?

I hope I can answer that soon. Just went complete last week (late app). Of course, my seat deposit date(s) would surely be different than yours.

Should I go to South Carolina ($120k debt at graduation) or Ole Miss ($60k debt at graduation)? Need help with the decision. Post graduation job prospects not really a consideration for me. I care mostly about the quality of the town/campus, debt and to some extent rank/prestige.

Thanks to any potential classmates willing to offer insight.

I think that is way too much debt to attend USC.

Oxford also kills Columbia. The only thing Columbia has on Oxford is its proximity to Charleston.

As someone who just sent their deposit into South Carolina I would never go to SC paying sticker. Tuition last year was $38,000 and I think it is going up this year. WAAAAYY to much money, if you dont mind living in MS Ole Miss is the way to go if those are your only options

Correct me if I'm wrong (I may very well be), but isn't it fairly easy to become a resident of South Carolina after your first year? (which would make the debt closer to $80K than $120k)

Everyone's input is very much appreciated. The amount of debt I mentioned is my own "bottom line" estimate using each school's cost of living and my applicable residency/tuition/scholarship scenarios.

I'm leaning toward Ole Miss because everyone seems to love Oxford and I'm having trouble justifying the extra $60k debt load to go to SC especially now that they are unranked as well.

Also, I was born and raised in Gainesville and am a UF alum, however, I was in the Swamp when Ole Miss upset Tim Tebow and the mighty Gators en route to their 08 NC (preceding "The Speech") - and I was allllllmost happy for the Ole Miss fans because they were such a classy bunch. I even congratulated a few and was sincere about it.

Congrats!

Forget UT! You don't want to move to that dirty city. Come to the promised land in Oxford.

Is anyone else starting at Ole Miss this summer? If so, have you been sent your class schedule?
