I mean, Baton Rouge IS a college town. There's like 4 or 5 colleges(if I remember correctly) spread out all over town. For bars, I'd suggest anyplace which enforces the 21 entry. The Bulldog on Perkins is pretty good for this: http://bulldog-batonrouge.draftfreak.com/ . No live music but I'll see what I can find from some people I know.

Don't go to Fred's as the second poster sarcastically recommends...its a freshman bar.

Re: LSU 2010
I just came back from campus. Did a little walk-around and went to a couple spots around campus. Loved it. Took a couple pics too. I would load them, but I'm not the most tech savvy so I'm going to have to play around with things to so I don't screw it up. Anyways, coming from a person who graduated from U of Michigan and knows Ann Arbor pretty well, I LOVED the campus. My mind is almost 100% made up at this point. I think my official visit this Monday is going to make it final.

Damn nice. I am leaning more and more toward LSU the more I read. I got waitlisted at my top choice, William and Mary, and still haven't heard from a few others. If the tour goes well at LSU then it would take getting into William and Mary and maybe one or two other schools for me to turn down LSU. LSU is certainly a top 3 at this point for me.

Re: LSU 2010
Hey guys,
Applied to LSU the day Feb. LSAT results were available (Mar 1), 3.19/155. Has anyone had success or failure with similar figures they wouldn't mind sharing? Or could anyone perhaps enlighten me with realistic chances of acceptance/waitlist? FWIW, college athlete, finishing MBA this spring. Other application is at Loyola-NO.
Thanks

I think your scores are around the 25th percent at both GPA and LSAT. You applied a bit late in the cycle. I have no idea how much weight graduate work carries with LSU. I'd say you have around a 25 percent change at admittance, likely a waitlist is ahead of you.JM3 wrote:Hey guys,

Re: LSU 2010
Okay people, just got back from my official campus visit, and I need to fill everyone in on it. First, the Law Center, in and out, is one of the most beautiful academic places I have ever seen. This is coming from a guy who went to Michigan and visited a few friends while they attended USC and UCLA. I can only imagine what the other tier-1 schools look like... Anyways, the library is 5th in the nation and it deserves the title. It is a very vibrant and open area, with TONS of legal books. While it wasn't final time, it looked like there was plenty of space to lay out all your stuff out and get down to studying.
My "Law Ambassador" (yes, it's a corny title), was excellent as well (his name is Johnathan). He gave me the run-down on a lot of different programs that the Law Center has and also some of the history of the building as well and why the front of it looks like the front of the SCOTUS. The classrooms are top of the line and I even sat in on a Con Law class with Prof. Diamond. (For all you gunners out there, he was talking about how the business practices of the "Heart of Atlanta" hotel constitute practicing inter-state commerce and how that is regulated on the federal level). I saw a little of the Socratic method, and I would tell all of you not to sweat it. The student was a little confused and disorganized, but the professor didn't rake him over the coals in the least bit, he just moved on to another student that had better answers.
After the class, I went back to the admissions office and fired off a lot of questions to one of the officers there, Mrs. Daphne James. She was great!!!! She had an answer for all of my questions and a lot of quick wit as well. I felt ten times more comfortable moving across the country to attend this law school, and this visit secured my seat deposit. She even told me that if I was a little apprehensive about making a firm decision on the seat deposit date, I could contact her and push the date back to give me a little more time to think about it. She even offered to help my cousin (who is planning on transferring to LSU for a UG degree), with suggesting a good school for her kids. Needless to say, from a person who is used to the whole "asshole" mentality that us northerners have, it was quite refreshing to see the southern hospitality that the south prides itself on.
As for the scholarship offers, Mrs.James told me that she was sorry about the hold-up, the letter should start rolling out again in the next week or two. That was one of my main concerns because I'm planning on living on-campus and I need to know how much I can play with as far as money is concerned. Another thing that I would add is that she suggested that even if you guys come to the ASD, if you are in the area, it would be better for you to schedule an individual visit to see how the Law Center operates when they're not on their best behavior. While I was there, the students really didn't even pay much attention to me, they just carried on like business as usual, which is fine by me.
In closing, I would like to tell everyone that it is completely worth it to attend if you have the offer and there isn't a higher school that you have your sights set on. Needless to say, for all you guys that are going to be a part of the class of 2013, I look forward to meeting you and struggling with you as well. Take it easy and I'll see you at the Law Center on August 16th.

Yeah, it is a little late in the game at this point. You'll probably get waitlisted based on your numbers because they're more focused on scholarships and the entering class they have at this point. Good luck to you anyways though!darknightbegins wrote:I think your scores are around the 25th percent at both GPA and LSAT. You applied a bit late in the cycle. You should get in pretty easy based on your numbers. If you want a couple pics, send me your email and I can hook you up. I just took a personal tour today and I know how important it is to see some things around the campus. I'm from U of Michigan and was wondering the same things as you.nick637 wrote:Man I wish lsu will hurry up with my app! Got my paws account around late Jan early feb. She was 100% truthful with everything. She also said that LSU tics are easy to get when you're a 2 or 3L too. I don't know very much about SEC football, but I've heard good things. That's one of reasons why I applied to LSU.macatak911 wrote:Mrs James might be the nicest lady I've ever met. Great info (especially
