hey, I just talked to someone in admissions, and this is what they said. They have no rolling admissions, and each application goes through a lengthy two-stage panel. Therefore, if you are still waiting for a decision at this point it is a good thing. Certainly not a guarantee of any kind, but a good thing. He said that most of the decisions thus far have been denials (over 800 decisions made this year so far). With that out of the way, he also said that the decisions are laced out over the course of the summer, and that last year the last acceptance was given two days before class started--not from the waitlist, but a regular acceptance. Oh yeah, I also asked him if the majority of decisions will be made in April, and he said likely, but no promises, because they have seen an increase in applications.

So chew on that.

WOW, 2 days before class starts....I don't even see how that could work, with all of the admission/registration paperwork and what not.

it happens in canada quite a bit. my stepfather's cousin was literally in his car, all packed up, on his way to Queens or something for law. he got a call en route from the UofT saying he was accepted. he pulled a U-turn, drove to Toronto, and started classes a week later.

shitty, but it happens all the time.

Well, I guess that's one way of not having to worry about sending in a seat deposit :D

I found out I was admitted to the part time, evening program a couple months ago. You still waiting to hear back?

I called Nathan Neely today for a status update. As was posted previously on this thread, the first seat deposits were due last week -- yet many of us have not heard anything from the school.

Mr Neely informed me that there were still nearly 350 applications to review, and assured me that a number of seats were still available. What that number is -- he couldn't say, but I believe he used the word plenty.

I'm estimating each of these 350 applications to be 6 pages long at a minimum (personal statement of 2-3 pages, 2+ LORs, and some sort of generic application sheet). So how long do y'all think it would take to review 2100 pages of application materials? Suddenly I'm understanding UNLV's less-than-speedy response times. (I might even go so far as to say I sympathize with Mr Neely and his staff... maybe).

I applied in Dec and my application has been in review since then. My numbers are 152 and 3.1 . I currently attend UNLV and graduate with my BA in May. What do you think my chances are?

For full time, I don't think your chances are very good. For part time, I have no idea.

LSP gives you a 29% chance. Good luck!

LSP doesn't take into account that 80% of seats go to residents though.

I agree with the 'not great' prediction, but I'd guesstimate at least 50/50, depending on the number of applicants.

I go from a weak consider to a consider if I become an underrepresented minority. I should have put down my race as Native American and I might have already been admitted. When they see my white face on the first day of orientation they can't kick me out can they?

Fwiw, I think looking at the data at lawschoolnumbers yourself makes it easier to gauge your chances than using the predictor.

True that LSN may be more useful as a predictor than LSP, however it's tough to gauge in this case since there's such a small sample of UNLV applicants that participate on LSN.

In his case, I think LSP is a little better since he is a part time applicant. At least from what I have seen, there are very few on LSN. With that said, he could very well outperform LSP since he is an alum.

I applied for 2008 admission and was waitlisted as a 21 year resident with a 2.98 GPA and 153 LSAT for part time evening.

That being said...im sure ill be waitlisted again because not much has changed. I certainly hope I find out sooner than later as I need to figure out if I need to move or not. Their inefficiency with the application process alone irritates me to the point of not wanting to go there.

I have been "In Review" since 2/9. I hope to get a response this week but I've been saying that for a month now. I have a seat deposit due at Hofstra by the 15th but I would rather attend BSL so the sooner I hear back the better!

I recently talked to the Director of Admissions and he told me basically the same thing. He said over 800 decisions have been made and they have had over 1800 total applicants this year. He also said they had not started making decisions until March 15th so in the month that has passed they have gone through about half the applications so if you have not heard back it could take another month to hear anything.

Geez unlv is slow...

Sucks to hear that many won't b hearing a decisin from them til after a majority of other schools' deposit deadlines. I'd understand if I applied late but I've been in review since 12/15/09. Makes me shiver knowing that I may have to place multiple deposits because of unlv.

Ive sent out deposits to two different schools already just to make sure I am going somewhere. My own school that I received my BA from and they cant even make a decision.

Interestingly enough...I talked to admissions and they informed me they would have majority of the decisions out this week. Last time I applied I received my decision on April 18th...so here is to crossing my fingers that I find out ASAP.

I recently became unemployed and I own my home here so its tough because I need to know if I should look for jobs here or wherever im moving or if I have to rent the place out etc etc. Lots to think about.

FWIW, rankings leaked. UNLV goes from 75 to 78, not a big deal. The two schools I have depoists at both fell three spots, so no difference there. Arizona State jumped to 38 somehow which makes me question whether I should have withdrawn :P

28th is nice. I read your decision-making thread but didn't get a chance to respond yet, but from what I remember, I thought Davis sounded like a pretty good fit for you. If you want to live in California eventually, I would just go there, unless the debt would crush you. Good luck making a decision, lol!

I don't know what to do now. These rankings didn't change my situation, I just wish my schools went up instead of down ;(. It also scares me that UNLV is only 4 points away from #100. Hawaii fell from the 70s to off the list last year, so it can happen. Then again, Tulane is only 9 points above UNLV... $60,000 difference... oy vey.
