Just one great acceptance

Post by amputatedbrain » Fri Jan 22, 2010 5:48 pm

So I'm starting this thread and we'll see if it goes anywhere. I'm creating it because I can't stand reading people's deliberations about whether to go with Harvard or Stanford. This is for people who for whatever reason have one T14 (or just T1) acceptance, and probably won't get another one. I didn't think I would crack the T14 with my numbers, especially after getting WL at Penn, UVA, and GULC . . . but then Michigan came through. I hold on to that acceptance like grim death, admiring it like Gollum and the One Ring, and totally awestruck that some adcomm out there thought my app was worthwhile. Anyone else out there in the same boat?

Waiting on my reaches to the T14's but not counting on much due to my LSAT. Here is to hoping that being a veteran honored by my state senate means something in the adcomm's eyes haha. Congrats.

My one T-14 acceptance is Cornell thus far. Rejected at Penn and GULC, even though I thought I stood a decent chance as a URM applicant with a pretty unique career goal. I still have apps pending to 7 of the T-14 schools so either I'm in for a bloodbath, or maybe one of those 7 will come back good news.

I hardly think a UCLA acceptance is anything to be disheartened about...

Ya, that's true, except I don't want to live/practice anywhere near SoCal, so I'm not sure if UCLA has the right portability for the things I want to do vs. much lower ranked local schools . . . so in that sense I felt I really needed a T14. I guess to a lot of people not being excited enough about UCLA is probably just as bad as me being annoyed by people yawning over which HYS acceptance to take. But whatever.

Ok, I'm officially on board ITT after today. My emotions fluctuate on a daily basis because of this whole process.

I have a 166, 3.53 with some interesting softs (in my opinion of course, everyone thinks they have interesting softs). My three main reach schools are UT/Vandy/USC. I'm a Texas resident which might help but all three are reaches and I would flip out if i got into any of them.

The 166 puts me in the position of most likely being just out of those three but in at Boston (already) and Emory (most likely). I just don't really want to live on the East coast though.

You had a 4.0 UG GPA. You're hardly an "everyman"

I'm in at W&L and my jaw literally dropped. I hd to re-read to make sure I wasn't hallucinating, and while I'm still waiting on 4 more T1 schools, I don't expect much because of my numbers.

The "complete date" fiasco on the WUSTL thread is making me depressed so here I am again. Still waiting for my TI acceptance...

I've only been accepted to my safety so far....he's to hoping that a higher ranked school takes a chance on me!
