Dinged at Berkeley too. Apart from my PT Duke waitlist this is my first response from an American school.

I'd already decided I didn't want to pay Berks tuition, but that doesn't help my ego. My poor fragile ego...

Let your ego know that Berkeley KNEW you were thinking you were much too valuable to pay such a pretty penny for your education, that the world should be glad to educate you for less than that...
