Pour me drink, ding bartender... I got the - insolvent state government, public school, naive hairy hippy-breeding, caucasian dreadlocks-having, crappy upper half of California, dinged from UC Berkeley - blues....

Wait, none of that actually appeals to me... hmmm... Looks like I'm over it. Bigger fish to fry.

Apparently I'm good enough for 1/3 tuition scholly at Duke, which = USC's waitlist.

They probably think you'll ditch them for a better school (YP).

[Me = someone who has USC/UCLA tied for #2 school(s) I would LOVE to go to!]

Dearest Duke,

I withdrew from consideration because I decided I was not going to take out a mortgage for your tuition (and also because I never had a chance). Your classy, proffessional response was to kindly email me your standard rejection letter.

The jokes on you. I didn't want to share alumni status with Richard Nixon anyways. Eat shit.

I feel you. After 2 expected acceptances, I got WLed at UVA and it's aaaaaall downhill from here.

Protip regarding WL, UVA: If I'd wanted to go to your sTTTate school, I'd have applied ED and bothered to write a Why Virginia. I'm just bitter because I know worse is coming

Dear Berkeley,
Thank you for not giving me the potentially agonizing choice between paying up to 55k a year for you or going to HLS. That would have been a tough one.

Dear UT Austin,
The appeal of studying law in a state where I can shoot any honky that marches onto my property was too much to resist. You saw through my visit as a vain attempt to eat breakfast tacos and thrift shop for overpriced, USED, Texan cowgirl boots. I am looking forward to NOT studying on a campus swarming with Southern/Texan business majors with popped collars. My relationship with you will remain the drug/alcohol induced haze of a night on 6th street where I regret everything and everyone I encounter.
Also, fuck you for the cheap rejection letter with the electronic signature. An email would have been just fine assholes.

Lol exactly what happened to me.

In at Duke with $
In at UT with $$
WL at Columbia (not a terrible result for me)
WL at UVa (which was funny at the time)
Rejected at Berkeley (#1 choice gone)
WL at USC (lolz i wonder if i killed someone and i don't know about it)

I don't see myself getting into another school to be honest. Well, probably Cornell. But I'm almost sure I'm going to complete the MVP waitlist trifecta, and probably get WLs at Chicago and NYU too.

Dear Berkeley,

This pains me to write as I still <3 you in spite of my rejection today. I was shocked when you admitted me as an undergrad transfer student and I am so sad you did not accept me today. I guess you are breaking up with me :( .

I thought you, of all schools, would be proud of my upward trend in GPA since I graduated from Berkeley with a 3.9 degree GPA. I was immature and made major mistakes in my 20's, but I thought I proved myself to you in the 2.5 years I attended you. I thought you of all schools would appreciate my softs and would approve of my LORs.

Clearly I was wrong. I've been donating what I can as an alumni every year since I graduated, but now my donations will have to be divided between two schools, as I plan on giving back what I can to the law school I attend as well. I appreciate all that we had when I was an undergrad and it breaks my heart that you rejected me today.

OTOH, I won't miss the panhandlers. I won't miss paying big $$$ for parking and then not being able to find a spot once I get to campus. I won't miss your outdated facilities. And I certainly won't miss John Yoo.

In fact, I kind of wonder if John Yoo reviewed my application in faculty review, because THAT would explain everything. My research paper on civil liberties violations in times of crisis, my paper analyzing the legal status of Guantanamo detainees, and my paper on the trend toward expansion of executive powers would of course been looked on with disdain by you and the awards my papers have won would be a joke to you. I didn't want to be associated with a school where you teach anyway. . .

Can't see how to delete the duplicate post so I will change it.

Dear Berkeley,

Georgetown said if you don't want me, they will take me. And they have David Cole, on the board of the Center for Constitutional Rights - sort of the anti-John Yoo. There are certainly others waiting in the wings.

i still <3 berk in spite of my rejection, too. and in spite of the fact that i de facto EDed and it was the only school i really wanted.

of course, it makes sense, since i'm self-loathing.

People on here seem "top" bound, but I'll throw down. I got WL at Pepperdine, whose numbers I dominated. Did they make a fantastical jump this year? Did they find a flaw that schools of similar rank could not? Did the fact that I find religious activity a joke come into play? I really wasn't interested, but I was insulted.

Eh, who knows. They probably thought you were overqualified.

That said, I know how you feel. I got WLed at USC today which makes no sense to me.

Hello, George Mason. I dont know if you know me, but I applied less than two weeks ago and...oh, whats that? You remember? Well great! Did you like my application? I really like your campus and...oh, you did? Well why didn't you read past the first page? WHAT?!?! You already made a decision??? NOT IN!! Uhhh....you didnt even read - ooooo ya, thats right. Your in the top 50, hoping to move up; nothing matters to you right now but numbers. Who cares if I won a few national championships, almost qualified for the olympics, and won two awards for my recently published thesis on the underlying republicanist ideology of the American Revolution? I mean...you can ding me, but at least put a little effort into it. Ill take my money elsewhere...

I need a drink.

It is, and that may be...but obviously not good enough to overcome a 152 LSAT. I'm a non-URM, and, outside of Notre Dame and Rutgers, no one seems to care about what I've done. Hell, it seems I could've landed on the moon while solving world hunger, and they would be asking why my LSAT was so low. I even have pretty justified reasons - I tore my ACL training for qualifications, had surgery, took the LSAT - had to cancel. Next attempt - came down with tonsillitis two days before, tried to take it - did bad. Got an infection from my surgeries that made me lose over 50 lbs in two months - did bad again. I realize that this kind of shit happens everyday to individuals everywhere, but I dont believe its common to have your EC's hinder your ability to perform on a standardized test. (Just for s&g's, I took 32 preptests in preparation for my last attempt - I averaged a 166)

Ive explained all of this in gruesome detail - yet no one seems to care... so like I said, I really do need a drink. If only I was a URM...

Dear Virginia,

Thanks for saving me a trip back home... I left my golf clubs in my parents' basement, along with all of my lobster-print shorts, my money clip and my secret society membership certificate, which I'm pretty sure I would have had to bring with me to C-ville.

Also I have a sneaking suspicion that you're sad about being forced to be nice to gay people now, and I don't know how I feel about that.

And you're right, I didn't mind the informality of your communication, I get that you care about nature and all that, since that pretty much all you've got down there. It's just that the noise of paper shredding is so much more satisfying than the little click of pressing 'delete'.

Sincerely,

UMG.

Tulane, if I had really wanted to spend three years surrounded by poverty and destroyed buildings, I'd be heading to Wayne State. The only thing your law school ever gets press for is all the stupid shit your students do. Furthermore, Rice-a-Roni is way better then that Zatarain's rice mix crap, and The Princess and the Frog grossed poorly at the box office. Suck it.
