I've actually never read it. My name is a reference to a writer who happened to be a big fan of the story.Pausanias wrote:As I wait (most likely in vain) for a JR1, I am reading Melville short stories, and I just read Benito Cereno. Haunting and amazing, if racialist.of Benito Cereno wrote:Clearly, I am very much painfully pining for a JR1, but my realm of delusion aside, I think its reasonable to assume that there are going to be a fair amount of JR1s in the next few weeks. What I don't understand is why it is taking so long and why they need to string so many people along. HLS waitlists an insane number of applicants, like 10 times more than they could ever need. Why? there is really no reason to do it, they could easily cut their waitlist in half and make many people's lives much easier. they waitlist hundreds of people for months that they must know for certain they will never end up admitting.Kronk wrote:It is crazy they are still sending out holds. Also crazy that there haven't really been any JR1s. Everyone is going to have deadlines before they even know if they're getting an interview.

Benito Cereno is credited. By far Melville's best writing.

Very well played. 176 (the LSAT you would've needed to crack HYS).Kronk wrote:Dude, Bartleby can take a swift kick to the testes and I don't care if he'd prefer not to.crackberry wrote:Blatant anti-Bartleby trolling.Kronk wrote:Benito Cereno is credited. By far Melville's best writing.

I quite enjoyed Billy Budd. And it also serves musically.

Agreed on Harvard and Yale. As for Stanford, I think it's clear my LSAT score isn't quite proleish enough for Palo Alto and I could benefit from dropping 2-4.crackberry wrote:Very well played. Best Melville character=Pip after he goes insane.
And yes, no Stanford for me, and not even a hint of Harvard. I'm desperate for a Stanford admit within the next week before I visit my 'rents out west, so I can impress them and visit the campus. It's looking unlikely, though, as Tuesday has come and gone.

Usually more movement on Fridays, though Stanford has admitted virtually no one since Feb. 1.Pausanias wrote:And yes, no Stanford for me, and not even a hint of Harvard. Well and BioE and anmo, but it's like 4 or 5 people on TLS in the last seven weeks. I think that's less than Yale. Gotta be close at least.Dignan wrote:Blatant anti-TomHobbes trolling.crackberry wrote:Usually more movement on Fridays, though Stanford has admitted virtually no one since Feb. 1.Pausanias wrote:And yes, no Stanford for me, and not even a hint of Harvard. I expect a lot of movement out of Yale and Stanford these next few weeks.crackberry wrote:Well and BioE and anmo, but it's like 4 or 5 people on TLS in the last seven weeks. Who knows what's going on with these Harvard holds, though.

Recently held. I don't get it. Why not just tell me where I stand. Ah, Harvard.

Seriously, no one else on hold got the letter encouraging them to apply to Harvard?

Re: Held By Harvard Club - 2010
In November I got an e-mail from HLS encouraging me to apply. Like a fee waiver, but they didn't waive the fee . It included a bunch of links to school related stuff. I was just curious how many that got that letter also got held... Now I am also curious how many got that letter?Laina wrote:What? What letter?
