Re: Has anyone heard from New Mexico?
Before I found out I got admitted I called UNM Law, I believe it was a Tuesday. I asked when I should find out if I had been admitted, and if there would be another admissions meeting, because if it said 'decision rendered' on the 'check your status page' and there was another meeting then I knew I got in because of UNM Law's rolling admissions. The lady on the phone informed me that my application was going to go before the board the next day, Wednesday, and she thought they may have another meeting after that because they were still receiving applications, but she was not 100 percent sure. It seems as though they are based on other posts so thats good. I was surprised because I received my acceptance letter that next saturday, only three days after the meeting. Anyway, I don't know if that information helps anyone, but if anything I think it outlines UNM's lax policy on application dates. Anyway, as far as my thesis, I wanted to do something over ancient history but UNM lost its ancient historian a few years back so I settled with Medieval history, and specifically the Crusades. In the end I was pretty interested with the theological changes on the Christians part during the First Crusade and after (i.e. the development of martyrdom and other ideas). It really wasn't as much work as I had anticipated, but it also wasn't as much fun. One of the major reasons I decided to apply for law school.

So you decided on law school as opposed to a graduate degree in history? Interesting path and choice.

Yes, I enjoy history very much, but applying it in an academic sense takes some of the fun out of it, for me at least. Also with a graduate degree in history there is only so much one can do, teach...or teach. Someone with a JD over an MA in History has much more job opportunity.

Fair enough. What are your interests in law, coming from a History background?

Good Luck to you!monicaggon wrote:Decision Rendered just now
I checked my status at lunch and it also said "decision rendered." I checked it again when I got home and now it's not there. Did this happen to anyone else?
It's making me crazy. I swear I'm not seeing things.

My "decision rendered" is still there. I would call them and ask, tell them what happened. They will tell you if you have a decision but not what the decision is.lucky13 wrote:Good Luck to you!monicaggon wrote:Decision Rendered just now

BTW, I was informed that the letters for decision rendered people today will probably go out tomorrow. But the did not go out today.
Good luck to you as well!

Mine was weird — I checked it on Friday, and it said "Decision Rendered - 4/26/2010" and I thought, "well that's odd, considering it's only 4/23." I checked again on Saturday, and under mailings it said "Decision Letter Sent - 4/23."lucky13 wrote:Good Luck to you!monicaggon wrote:Decision Rendered just now

The letter surely didn't go out on 4/23 though. It hasn't come yet.
edit: I'm in small town Iowa, so it sometimes take 4-5 days for mail. Gotta love USPS.

My "decision rendered" reappeared today midday with yesterday's date.
I was assuming anyone left this late in the cycle would be waitlisted or rejected, but I see there have been some "admitted" today. Congrats! Hope for the rest of us.

OMG the wind is so bad today in ABQ. I am dreading walking out of my house to go to work tonight. I fear I will leave and come home to find my car blown over or my trees gone. I just saw a huge branch next door go down. The news said there would be sustained 70mph. Yikes. Anyone else afraid their mail will blow away carrying with it financial aid info???

I am, on the other hand, wondering why I still haven't received my letter. ;

Maybe it got caught in the wind...procrastinator wrote:I am, on the other hand, wondering why I still haven't received my letter. ;
Just playing. Time slows down when you are waiting on that damn letter. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you too! Also the USPS is not what it used to be. I received my neighbors mail, for the hundredth time today, and I live in a house - no excuse like with apartments. Good luck!

THANK YOU!!! My biggest fear today was that I would have to drive south to Valencia County for work to the huge dust storm. Did you see that news coverage??? It didn't happen thank goodness.
