Waitlisted. Are you kidding me NYLS? A little too desperate to raise your rankings? I was waitlisted at Washington and Lee. Do you seriously think you're on the same caliber as Washington and Lee? You accepted someone with a 2.8. How does that make any sense? Wake up NYLS.

I was waitlisted too. I'm on the waitlist for Maryland too, so it was surprising. They're doing what they can to improve their rankings, what can you say.....

Also, I don't believe it's about the softs... on LSN there is a CLEAR diagonal line of green and red... AKA a formula for admissions.

I've heard that if you have very good numbers and a school feels that they are your "safety school", they'll wait list you then reject you unless you send some kind of continued interest letter to show you really do favor them over other programs. I suppose it helps with their rejection percentages.

To those recently waitlisted, did you find out via mail or the status checker?

This is true.. Yeild Protection or YP if you look around the boards. I don't think this is the case for NYLS this cycle. They are accepting everyone with high numbers and it seems waitlisted people with "borderline" numbers. It seems their numbers are going up this year.

Yeah I don't really know what to think. I thought I had a strong application. My GPA was a 3.9 and my LSAT was around their 25th. YP or not, it's just disappointing that someone will get accepted with less than a 3.0 just because their LSAT is a few points higher than mine. I had a public-service centered personal statement, and I thought I made it pretty clear in my "Why NYLS" essay that I wanted to study there. Sad and confusing, but I guess it's not meant to be.

And I found out through the status checker. No email.

The admission process is a confusing one for sure.

Good luck on the rest of your apps, hope you land somewhere you want.

Can I ask -- when did you apply and was it for FT or PT?

I have 2.6 and a good explanation for it. I am from Europe and I barely spoek English when i came to the US for college. I also played two varsity sports and have 2 years of experience as a legal analyst. I was initially put on Hold and then accepted 10 days later. LSAT: 159. No scolarship tho, so it will be tough.

Me too -- and with scholarship! Wish I knew how much that was for but in either case it makes the weekend far more relaxing.

It's definitely on my list -- in fact, as a PT student, it's where I wanted to go. Location is great (which, if you are there until 10pm+, getting home quickly becomes a big issue), I like the area and school facilities. They have all the classes I was looking for. I am really pleased.

Just got scholly info -- $22,5K as PT. Tough GPA requirements but doable. I think my mind's made up!

Has anyone received their financial aid packets yet? I'm deciding between New York Law and another school and it will probably come down to the financial aid offers. I'm getting a little paranoid that I forgot to send my FAFSA info to them (me being paranoid...I think).
