That thing looks dubious. If true though, that might be it for me. I got a great scholly but I just can't justify it if the freaking school isn't even ranked.

Re: University of South Carolina!
okay, I'm not an applicant, but I do know a little bit about the SC legal market so I feel comfortable in saying this: If you were previously happy with the thought of practicing in South Carolina, then these rankings shouldn't discourage you. USC is still the only fully established law school in a state that's notoriously provincial. Firms are not going to suddenly treat USC grads as equal to CSOL grads just b/c they're now both unranked.
On the other hand, if you were looking to travel out of state with a USC degree, your options probably weren't tremendous anyway, so the loss here is negligible. If that was your plan and this news makes you nervous, you probably shouldn't have been seriously considering the school anyway.

I could get into top 30 schools, but going debt free to SC was a major consideration. This is just very disheartening.

So true (but, hopefully, enough people will take the magazine to heart and withdraw...I REALLY want to go to South Carolina)soullesswonder wrote:okay, I'm not an applicant, but I do know a little bit about the SC legal market so I feel comfortable in saying this: If you were previously happy with the thought of practicing in South Carolina, then these rankings shouldn't discourage you. Has there been any reaction among students about the drop in this year's ranking?sailorbear2008 wrote:Hey guys. Doing my second annual drop-in to offer to answer any questions you may have about USC. Post here or shoot me a PM.

And, what do you think caused the drop in rankings? What does this say about the administration/quality of education?

No, I've been lurking for some time now though. I'm disappointed in USC's drop and will probably be withdrawing now...
Also, my reply was meant to be good natured.

It's the same school it was 24 hours ago before it slipped into T3. It's a decent school. Don't let one years ranking change your mind. You are awful finicky aren't you.GentlemanJim wrote:That thing looks dubious. If true though, that might be it for me.
