Ha Ha... I got this as well. Totally bizzarre item to send to prospective students.
That directory gives me second thoughts about going there... some of the people are downright scary looking. Some of those photos must be mug shots, and many look like the aftermath of hard partying. I'm not trying to knock on the students there, but you gotta wonder about the professionalism of many of them.

So yeah, it was strange that I got this directory in the mail all by itself. I could understand it better if there was a brochure or something from the school included.

That directory is the single reason I do NOT want to go to Fayetteville. They should not have sent that out. Not saying that I'm going to law school to pick up dates, but that directory planted a very grim image in my mind.

As for the directory, they use the student ID photos. The students don't know that it will be used for a directory. Also, for students who continued to law school straight from undergraduate there, they may use the existing ID photo, which could have been taken as a freshman.

Other schools don't seem to do something like this, but it does show a sense of community (a big factor in my decision).

Arkansas regularly ranks high in hottest student body lists, and the law school is right in the middle of the campus.

Surprised with how high Oregon was. Almost all southern schools, didn't see any Northeastern schools. Ouch

Just wondering if anyone has had any luck getting in as a non-index admission?

I believe I did, I am out of state and my prediction index is about 201 based on the below criteria.

"The prediction index is calculated as follows: (LSAT score) plus (13.4 x UGPA) = Prediction Index . For example, if an applicant has an LSAT score of 160 and a 3.00 UGPA, his/her prediction index would be 200.

We will grant index admission to non-residents who have a prediction index of 205 or above and to Arkansas residents who have a prediction index of 200 or above. If space permits, we may offer index admission to other applicants."
[/i]

My addmission letter didn't say anything about non-index admission though. So I am not entirley sure.

Fayetteville seems like a cool town. My dad lives there, it is small but seems like it would be a nice place to be.

I was just admitted this past week. I'm out-of-state and did not meet the index requirements.

I'll be taking my first trip to Fayetteville on Thursday and visiting the school Friday.

^similar to mdallavis I am OOS and was ~3-4% (depending on rounding) below the "required index". I also received appx. 60% scholarship(12k OOS/6k IS) with the condition that I remain in good academic standing (2.0).

It may have to do with the fact that in the student directory I am appx. 1,500 miles from the closest student?

I was wondering if anyone else had recieved any kind of correspondence form UA recently? The last thing I recieved was that yearbook deal with everyones pictures and contact information in it. Other schools that I have been admitted to have been bombarding my email with different things, admitted student pages and notices of admitted student gatherings, but not Arkansas. I think they sent me somthing when there moot court team won a tournament of some kind but nothing since then. I just think its a little weird to hear almost nothing.

I sent in my seat deposit about 2 1/2 weeks ago and they still have not deposited the check. I do know they were on "spring break" last week.

I just recently got back from a visit to Fayetteville and I absolutely fell in love with the place/people/atmosphere/everything. It is a very nice town with some amazing views and the faculty, at least the ones that I was able to meet, all seem very dedicated to the development of their students. I am almost certain that this is the place I will be this coming Fall semester.

My seat deposit is in and processed, but no communication other than short responses to emails I've sent them. One of which was to confirm that they recieved my deposit.

I have a 10k scholly for the first year to take care of the OOS costs, so I will be moving in early July.

Mine is a little different 12k for the first year and reduces to 3k a semester if instate... If i get there early and do instate second semester I will save almost 2k in total costs (with apartment included).

I have the same basic part for when I become in state. When would I have to move to Arkansas by in order to receive in state status for the second semester, as this would also save me a couple thousand dollars!

I will be submitting my deposit soon. Still waiting to hear from other places, but knowing I'm in somewhere is nice.

I will also be unemployed as of the fall if I don't go to school (or, you know, look for a job).
