So no JR2s today, huh? These few days with no news have been so boring.

*Sigh, maybe next Monday. Or Wednesday. Or you know ... never.

UR is before complete. You'll get a complete email in 1-2weeks.

i don't know man, the post at the top of this page makes it seem like if more than a couple weeks go by w/o a jr1 e-mail, things start looking grim.

If you guys don't mind what does the hold e-mail say? Can you post it?

That is what a four month wait to be held? Wow... Sorry and my condolences.

The Admissions Committee has reviewed your application and has decided to hold it for further review. Although we regret the immediate uncertainty this entails, the purpose of holding applications is to ensure that each application receives thorough and fair consideration. Once a larger portion of the applicant pool has been reviewed, the Committee will be able to provide you with a decision to admit, deny, or wait-list your application.

These decisions may be made at any time between now and late spring. Unfortunately, it is not possible to predict the next decision on your application or the timing of that decision. If you are facing a deadline with another school, you may want to inform us, but we still may not be able to provide you with definitive information.

A hold decision provides you with the opportunity to update and supplement your file. For example, if you have received additional grades since submitting your transcripts to LSDAS, please send these new grades to LSDAS. Additional letters of recommendation are also welcome. If you have a special interest in attending Harvard, please feel free to tell us about that as well. Any new information that you feel might be helpful is appropriate. All correspondence to our office should include your LSDAS registration number and be signed by you.

We will be unable to confirm with you over the phone if we have received any of the above information. If you would like to confirm receipt, please include a self-addressed stamped postcard with any correspondence and we will mail it back to you.

We will make final decisions as soon as possible. However, if you do not hear from us again before mid-April, you may want to reserve a place at another law school while awaiting Harvard?s final decision. Thank you for your patience and your interest. We will contact you as soon as the next decision on your application has been made.

Sincerely,

Josh Rubenstein

Assistant Dean for Admissions

Well, it is better than a Wait List. Basically a "we haven't forgot about you, but we want to see who is going to apply with December numbers."

What kinda numbers? Wonder if they are holding any JR1s?

Why do I have the feeling that they've sent out the batch of "hold" emails, then they'll send out the "waitlist" or "reject" emails (and I'm going to be getting the latter)?

both my numbers are in their 25% range haha so i have no chance (moot point anyways since i'm in ed at nyu but too lazy to withdraw from harvard since they require a written letter withdrawal instead of just email). just curious what a hold meant

Just received the same hold e-mail. While I suppose being put on hold is better than being outright rejected, the months of waiting are a bit nerve wracking. And no, no JR1 for moi.

In at Yale, held at Harvard? What has happened to the world of law school admissions?

Also got the hold. A little disappointed--although I was expecting a waitlist at this point. I have a lot of stuff to update my file with, a few publications, a great new job, a slight increase in grades, etc. So hopefully that will sway them. I'm definitely a stronger applicant now than six months ago. That's the only positive spin I can put on being held.

Proof the Yale is more "holistic" and Harvard is numbers oriented?

i'd interpret it as still being in the running, though. they could've WLed or rejected you.

It sure looks like it. My numbers are below the medians at both schools, but I had some strong soft factors and essays that must have helped at Yale.

Did everyone who got the email submit in September/early October?

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
Just kidding ... it's still FREE!
