UVA if you ED
...now I feel your 166 frustration. If I had a Harvardesque GPA from an Ivy, 166 would be pretty infuriating.
I have a year off working at a well-known legal clinic in Chicago; I'm hoping that inches me up a tiny bit. My app needs to be pretty spotless.
Retake for a 170+ and go to Harvard.

LSATs are easy. Don't waste a 3.88 from an Ivy.

well it sucks because i was unprepared and dropped a low 160s shit in September. just retook it after hitting the 170s consistently on practice tests. don't think i hit the 170s this time...just hoping for as high in the 160s as possible. i'd hate to retake it again and thus delay my apps a year.

A 166 is a great score, and I'm sure many people would be thrilled to have it.

But I totally understand, I'd be disappointed with a 166 considering I want HYS.

You bumped your thread after 3 minutes?

A 166 puts you in the 94.84 percentile of LSAT takers. If a 166 sucks, then apparently about 95 percent of LSAT takers receive scores that suck and will fail to be successful in this job market because of it.

Now, I know the economy is shit and all, but I can't be THAT pessimistic.

Hence, why I retook lol....

166 is the blue-balls score, you won't get T14, but will be oh so close. Since my GPA is over 75th at every school in the country that just makes it hurt that much more.

I wish I could get a 166. With my 3.9+ that would really get me into some pretty good schools. There is nothing wrong with a 166... :(

Confirmed. I got a 166 in June and it sucks. You know what sucks more? Being really beat up about it and trying to commiserate with a friend from UG who also scored lower than she wanted but would kill you dead in the coffee shop for your 166. Be in that situation and try to empathize, then come back here.

Also, I'm still going to a sweet school so it's not the kiss of death.

But yeah I will agree it sucks, that stuff aside. It's a tweener score.

By saying a 166 sucks aren't you actually saying that you suck (or at least that top law schools think you suck)? :?

I mean... it's not like some random number generator gave you a score.

Hm... I don't think we even said we didn't achieve it. We're saying it's a shitty achievment and it disappoints us. I went in, I took the test, I did poorly. I don't think anyone here was saying they didn't deserve it we're just talking about how it's rough to go in, come up short (but not that short).

My GPA can't carry me to the t-14, where my hopes, dreams, and self-esteem lie.
well, there's where your problem is

Perhaps, but to start posting about it on a site where 95% of people scored lower than this really makes one look like an idiot, tantamount to me driving my Lexus SUV into the slums of LA and bitching about my lack fuel efficiency to a guy digging in a dumpster; well, maybe not entirely similar, but you get the point.

I took the LSAT despite not being 100 percent sure that I was ready.

I did moderately well-ish, so I have a good chance of dropping, but not anywhere near enough to get me into the t-14, especially being a white non-URM.

Who else got a 166 OR thinks it completely sucks?
That's an unhealthy way to think, try again, if not work with what you got. Don't think the score you get sucks unless you also suck, if that's the case then work on improving yourself before the score.

Why do you think you did poorly? Because of PT's? Maybe your PT conditions weren't so comparable. Because of your high expectations? High expectations don't mean a score sucks, it may means you've got higher expectations than what you could get. That doesn't mean a score sucks, it means you overestimate your LSAT abilities.

If you think 95 percent of the people on this site scored lower than me, you need to poke around more. This site is in no way representative of all test takers.

We aren't really "bitching" either. We're just, us group of 166ers, discussing how awkward and disappointing of a score it is and how we wish it could have gone differently and it creates a weird spot to be in. We're not trying to flaunt it in the "slums of LA" ie. some school where a 166 would be very strong. I mean, this thread pretty much asked for all the 166 people to come in and chat it up and then you, whatever your score was, came in here after reading the "how to be an internet tough guy pragmatist/realist" hand book and decided to get all analogous on us. This thread clearly indicates the topic and we aren't subjecting people to our misery, you opted in by clicking on it (my apologies if you are in some sort of eyes open clockwork orange experiment where you must watch and participate in this thread, perhaps I am assuming too much). So, no, I do not "get your point" cause your comparison missed the mark. I guess you just aren't with us in this thread.

P.S. My score got me into a school which I'm psyched to attend and was on the top of my list before I ever started studying for the LSAT so I'm not totally humiliated or hating it. I dunno if the title means sucks as in "indicates you are a moron" or "is crappy to deal with" but I think more of the latter.
