In case you've done all the LSATs ever, here's a game we wrote: http://www.atlaslsat.com/lsat-logic-game-16.cfm Good luck!

Let's see who posts the answers here first. Also, whoever writes the best solution gets $25. Rules on the bottom of the game.

No purchase necessary :)

Spoiler:

One key inference is that if 1st layer is metal the top must also be, and vice versa (just like the wood)

I may be wrong but...

1.E
2. C
3. B
4. E
5. A
6. B
7. E

1. A is wrong because L and F can't touch.
B is wrong because Wood can't be at the top if a Metals is on the bottom layer.
C is wrong because Wood can't touch Metal (top two layers)
D is wrong because Krypton can only touch Fleece if it touches H or G as well and it touches Lead.

2. A is wrong because O,F,S,H,L,G,P is possible.
B is wrong because O,F,S,H,L,G,P is possible.
D is wrong because O,F,K,H,S,P is possible.
E is wrong because O,F,K,L,H,S,P is possible.

3. A is wrong because L,G,O,S,P,H,K is possible.
C is wrong because L,G,O,S,P,H,K is possible.
D is wrong because L,G,O,S,P,H,K is possible.
E is wrong because L, H, P, S, O, F, K is possible.

4. Possibliities:
KLG as 4,5,6: 1,2,3 are SOF, OSF,
SGLKHO and OGLKHS.
O,G,L,K,H,S and S,G,L,K,H,O. 6 possibilities.

5. A is wrong because if Lead is the first layer, then Krypton must be the last layer. If Fleece is 5, then if Krypton is 7, then 6 cannot be either a Wood or Insulation, and both metals are used. If Krypton is 6, then it cannot touch Fleece unless it touches two layers of insulation, which is not possible.
B is wrong because S,G,L,H,O,P
C is wrong because L,G,O,S,P,H,K is possible.
D is wrong because P,O,H,K,L,G,S is possible.
E is wrong because question 4 is a hypothetical involving LK touching.

6. B is right because if all three insulators are used, they must be parts 2,4,and 6 because they can't touch and can't be end pieces, thus separating the M and the W.
A is wrong because S,O,P,L,H,K is now possible, but doesn't follow the old rules.
C is wrong because S,L,K,H,O,G,P is now possible, but doesn't follow the old rules.
D is wrong because S,L,H,O,G,K is now possible, but doesn't follow the old rules.
E is wrong because S,L,H,O,G,K is now possible, but doesn't follow the old rules.

Top layer is wooden if the bottom is.

"The top layer is wooden if, and only if, the bottom layer is as well."

If the bottom is wooden, the top can still be Metal, no?

Also, I edited S,G,L,K,H O. this, I forgot an O.

There's a possibility I interpreted it wrong, but I read that as two statements:

1) The top layer is wooden if the bottom layer is wooden
2) The top layer is wooden only if the bottom layer is wooden

Taken together they mean that if either top or bottom is wooden, both must be.

Failure. A<----->B, ~A<------->~B are the only true values for this biconditional.

The top is wooden if and only if the bottom is also.
The top is not wooden if and only if neither is the bottom.

Ok, I'm taking stupid pills. For some reason the 'and only if' didn't get through to my head.
I had to think of another example.
The man is obese if and only if he is fat. So if he is a fat guy he's obese. He's either really really fat, or not fat.

Not a good sign for Dec's LSAT.

Damn. It was late, the periodic table was a blur.

Or, perhaps it's a metal-like gas...

well in theory it could be a solid under a high enough pressure, but then it would explode when exposed to 1 atmospheric here on earth when an Atlas Industries worker tried to place it in a layer, resulting in the killing the Atlas Ind. construction worker, and I guess it still would not be a metal by definition even in the solid state...

You were probably thinking of kryptonite (ala Superman).

there is no such thing as a metal-like gas (unless you melt the metal and gasify it)
