saw this on XO; I was not the one who posted it there.

this certainly looks legit, and if so, means Testmasters and Robin are in a heap of trouble

Wow. Holy shit. Robin cannot afford to pay his bill to LSAC? Add to that his propensity for hiring very bad attorneys and losing lawsuits left and right and it sounds like he is in trouble.

some of the letters from Robin in part 6 are downright laughable.

truly he knows the law admissions test but not the law.

One might be able to using gaming methods to get through the LSAT but they are useless in law school. On the other hand, logical skills . . . .

lol they got 3 morgan lewis partners and god knows how many associates and paralegals billing time to chase after robin's ass. that $100,000 check isn't even going to cover the attorney fees.

better settle fast.

I am the one who posted that information. I did it to warn potential LSAT students to be careful with their money.

It seems that TestMasters, and its owner Robin Singh, have been busted for using the Law School Admission Council's LSAT questions without a license. LSAC is suing Singh.

TestMasters is using these materials unlicensed *right now*, and they may be shut down at any moment.

Don't count on getting a refund, either. Robin Singh admitted in an email to LSAC that TestMasters is insolvent, and cannot pay its bills:

"[A]t this moment we cannot pay all of the fees due under our licensing agreement because we do not have the funds to do so. Our litigation with Blueprint and TES has completely drained our financial resources, leaving us with barely enough money to pay our operational expenses for the rest of 2009." - Robin Singh, August 19, 2009

You can find that quote in the documents linked by the first poster.

So, do yourself a favor and don't give TestMasters $1,450 of your money. They are using unlicensed material, and are, by Robin Singh's own admission, teetering on the brink of financial collapse. You might find yourself without a class, unprepared for the LSAT, and $1,450 poorer.

If you've already signed up for a TestMasters class I would download everything you can from their web site a.s.a.p. I would also call them and demand that they send you the books now. Otherwise if you paid by credit card call the credit card company to see if you can cancel payment. Same thing if you paid by check. Testmasters screwed all the Blueprint students over right before a LSAT test by getting the court to force Blueprint to cancel classes due to the lawsuit. Now LSAC wants do the same to TestMasters.

I wonder if they'll also get him for taking the test repeatedly with no intent to apply to law school, and then bragging about it on his website.

Wow, this is truly interesting stuff, especially in part 6. Are most lawsuits this fun to read?

Sounds like TM is going back and forth between "sorry, we can't pay right now, we'll send the money as soon as we can" and "fuck you, we shouldn't have to pay at all since the preptests are pirated online anyway". And this has been going on for most of the last two years apparently!

by the way, this should probably be a wakeup call to everyone here to not post any questions or anything that could be construed as a question on TLS.

we now know two things:

1.) LSAC will sue for infringement in federal court
2.) Robin already claims that the questions are everywhere online

so one might conclude that 3.) LSAC is going to be particularly vigilant in the coming months to squelch any questions online.

Uhhh... they're suing Testmasters... I doubt they'll be scouring TLS looking for random 0Ls to sue. Then again, I bet people thought that about the RIAA.

Tried to cancel payment last night on my cc. Said the authorization is pending and they have to wait. Once it comes through they will give me a provisional credit and fight for the money back. Also since I just signed up 2 days ago I don't have access to the members area yet. What a bunch of crap this is. Was really counting on assistance from this course as I heard good things about it.

I just called Testmasters and the woman claimed she had no idea of the allegations I mentioned. She also told me that the classes scheduled to start in October will definitely be running. I figure that they are just trying to put me at ease, but how big of a risk is it if I stay enrolled?

That's what I'm struggling with. I just talked to LSAC and they confirmed that this lawsuit is legit. As far as the class, she said you would have to talk to testmasters. Which obviously they're going to tell you what you want to hear. My suggestion would be to try to cancel payment and get what you can from the website as mentioned above.

you can also get a full refund from testmasters if you provide them a written notice at least 10 days before the class starts.

she's probably telling the truth, if the complaint was filed less than a week ago it will be a while before any serious trouble hits. testmasters is currently conducting their new instructor week-long training bootcamp in los angeles right now, robin and the top dogs have their hands full with that until next monday.

i'm interested to see what will come of this, i can't see a ruling that will effectively screw thousands of people out of their money, but then again... that did happen with blueprint like someone mentioned above.

I just read the documents and LSAC is asking for them to cease using LSAT materials, which sounds like they will shut down the classes. I really feel bad for the students in the classes, I hope you guys can get your money out and the materials while you can!

I hope Robert Singh has learned his lesson, he and his company were unprofessional douchebags when my fiance applied to be an instructor. Robert personally emailed her a nasty letter about how she was a thief because she took a course offered by Blueprint and that Testmasters didn't want thieves working in their company.

Weasel-tongued prick deserves everything LSAC throws at him.

This is the timeframe that I'm obviously concerned about. I really don't care about giving my money to a company that's in the midst of legal trouble since everyone seems to agree that they're great at what they do, I'm just worried that the clock will strike midnight before the first week in December (which is when my class would end). Oh well, I guess I'll be anxiously checking for any updates as the course progresses.
