Bump, for being one of the greatest threads on TLS...

I like the one about Van Gogh ingesting lead-based "Naples Yellow" paint, then painting some whacked-out, lead-induced haloes around the stars and sun.

Is this really funny or am I just really tired?

"Mercury poisoning can cause deafness in people with venereal diseases"

Just sounds so ridiculous...

An answer choice about a suede covered monkey being a substitute for a mothers teat made me laugh.

"The author mistakenly assumes that professors do not need vacation" or something like that.

Water can cause intoxication. After all, drinking scotch and water etc... causes intoxication.

While not a single answer choice in particular, question PT55, section 2, question #17 in the chinese-talk story made me laugh because I thought it was the most ridiculous analogy ever.

PT 57 RC passage 3 talked about an author named Cather. I couldn't help but keep reading it as "Catheter"...

Missed 2/7 questions... ugh

I can't believe nobody has posted this one yet !!

In the stim: ...it must be acknowledged that all Persian cats are pompous, and pompous cats are invariably irritating.
One answer choice: Any cat that is not irritating is not a Persian cat.

Somewhere, someone's career as a judge was determined by pompous Persian cats.

The flaw in the argument is that it appeals to the emotion of fear, which is often experienced by people faced with the prospect of losing their jobs to robots.

The argument neglects to consider that people might have good reason to fear horses.

Which of the following could most logically be added to the end of the passage?
Therefore, the practice of law remains morally dubious....

More as I remember them. There so many... this is one of the reasons that I like the LSAT enough to keep teaching for (as of right now) three years. LSAC definitely has this dry, wacky sense of humor that you can tap into, and when you tap into it, you start doing better. My students who have scored the highest have been the ones who've cracked up halfway through sections.

There was one LR question I found where the credited response was that "All Siamese cats are pompous" or something to that effect. Pretty hilarious way to describe a type of cat.

Also the passage regarding the homing pigeons had an answer about their possible ability to read people's minds, which just conjured up hilarious images in my head.

As dry as the LSAT can be, I have to so I do actually enjoy reading some of the RC and LR sections. Sometimes I learn things, sometimes I laugh. I haven't cried yet, but maybe one of these days...

I laugh sometimes in LR when there are ad hominems, or when a flawed/stupid argument seems to parody people I know IRL.

If there's a game with a lot of rules about which people refuse to be with one guy it makes me laugh, mainly because of something that happened when I was studying once.

Instructor: "It says that Steve won't go to a movie with Rick, and Jim won't go to a movie with Rick, and Fuquon won't go to a movie with Rick. What does this tell us?"

Student: "Rick's an asshole?"

hypermeganet wrote:I find the names that the games use to be often hilarious. I was doing the car washing game last night and the last question inserts a new person to have their car washed: Jabron.

I laughed out loud when I got to it.

Wasn't there an "h" in Jabron somewhere? Jabrohn?

I cackled a little bit when I got the comp. reading passage about drilling mud because I took that test right after reading the paper, which included a bit about BP using seawater instead of drilling mud on Deepwater Horizon.

I was also amused by a LR stim from a 2006-ish test that was along the lines of "Many economies in Europe are completely fucked. Germany is the only country financially stable enough to help. Thus, Germany should bail their asses out. Which principle justifies this conclusion?" Topical!

lol at this entire thread. Im about to start drilling and i logged on for some TLStherapy... sure enough, i stumble upon this gem of a thread! hahaha

most recent LR that gave me the lulz was about a logician stating: I have mastered the form of logic, and thus; It is impossible for me to make an break the rules of logic in everyday conversation. Much like it would be impossible for a physicist to break the laws of physics in every day life.

lulz
