Tried 300 mg caffeine (1.5x Vivarin) this weekend and it DID NOT WORK for me: I had a crash during section 4 to a point where I had to stop the clock and put my head down for a few minutes. I could not grasp sh*t from what I was reading. Needless to say, the fifth "experimental" section was canceled.

So far, I find adderall to work best. I am planning to use it on the real thing unless I find something drastically better. 39 days left - plenty of time to experiment.

Up next: 5 hour energy.

This. You should take an extra whatever for the break.

jardine wrote:This is incredibly obvious but people tend to forget it. Don't forget that your brain requires glucose to function. If you're downing diet soda, or calorie-and-sugar-free energy drinks, they can depress your appetite and its easy to forget to eat. That could be adding to your low energy so don't forget to eat something with those energy drinks.

A friend of mine is an M.D. and recommends carb loading before the test- just like marathon runners. Have a nice pasta dinner so you have lots of glucose stored up on test day. Might help- who knows!

And this. I tend to have a carb restricted diet, but on test day I eat an extra 20-30 grams of brown rice.

Ephedra is way stronger than caffeine or B vitamins. I wouldn't take it unless I PT'd with it though.

So if I take one fewer than what it says, I should be OK?!

hilarious..

as to the subject of energy drinks.. do you think our ancestors pounded RockStars as they chased pigs through the woods with clubs? I am sure a little coffee will get you through a couple logic puzzles..

official LSAT drink of choice

On a more serious note, I don't think any sort of energy drink or caffeinated beverage is going to give you any more benefit than a good workout the day before the test followed by a good night's sleep.

Oh, I do both and certainly plan on doing same before the test.

Too bad ephedra is illegal. That stuff was rocket fuel.

I use to love the weird feeling you got after taking some ephedra and running your hand through your hair.

I know they outlawed it a while ago, but you could still surprisingly get it at some gas stations. I guess there was a loophole of some sort. (Maybe they could sell what they already had)

Is there any way to get it or something ephedra-containing today?

I agree with this as far as Red Bull, Rockstar, 5 Hour, and Starbucks are concerned ... for me, Monster is an exception!

Be warned though- every time I have used ZipFizz, I have found myself unable to sleep for 24-48 hours (which was necessary in the instances in which I used it).

Otherwise, have you ever heard of a caffeine nap?

Yes! Those are the best.

During college and during my first out-of-college job, I never slept (2-3 hours a night, tons of all-nighters) and came to LOVE the JOLT caffeine mints... 5 little mints = 1 cup of coffee... they come 45 to a pack, taste great, and have virtually no calories. If I go to law school, I'm sure we'll make friends again.

It's not illegal to sell, it's illegal to sell as a supplement. I bet your drug store sells this bronkaid.

I took a 5 hour energy drink a few weeks ago before a pretty tough 4 hour hike. I felt pretty good. It is all vitamin B from what I remember reading on the label. It has no caffine, no sugar. no crash. no diuretics. Sounds like a winner before the LSAT.
Last time I had a soda during the break and I had to piss during the last section. About one minute before it was finished I raised my hand to use the bathroom. I was done a little early. It was like an extra break before the all important essay section. The proctors were visibly annoyed with me that I asked to leave the room with just a few seconds left but they did not want to say no.
