Took PT 38 today. I had a vague memory of a few of the LR questions from my Testmasters books so the score isn't wholly representative. But I did well regardless and it at least boost my confidence a bit, which is the most important thing.

LG -2
RC -3 (Doubt I can match this on the modern RC)
LR1 -2
LR2 -2

That's a raw of 91, scaled score of 173. Anything close to that on game day and I'd be one happy camper.

171 on PT 57! Back to back 171s! For some reason I thought the RC was A LOT easier on 56 and 57 than 54 and 55. LR the same, LG a little harder.

I did the Dino game and honestly, I dont know what the fuck the fuss is about. If U and L are both selected than T has to be selected and be mauve. After I made that inference before doing the questions, it was pretty simple. I dont even diagram the technical way to diagram In and Out games - its WAY easier to hold the key inferences in your head than draw out every goddamn thing. Youll only kill the clock. The last LG was a little lengthy for some reason. I was 20/20 and had to guess on the last 3 because time ran out (all 3 were wrong guesses).

LG -3
LR1 -2
LR2 -1
RC -4

I'm good to go for minyana

Damn. I was doing so good. 3 tests in a row at 170+. Then today, the day before the test, I score a 166 on test 55.

I walked out of there with visions of 172+, but I have since toned down my optimism.

I think this happens to everyone who walks out of the test feeling confident. I'm the same way, I'm just trying not to think about it (as impossible as that is) and when the score comes in 15 days then I'll decide if it's time to freak out or not.

I'm feeling more and more confident, personally, but perhaps it's just a brain tumor.

I was hoping for 170+ until the games, 2 of which were of the types I'm really bad at (and forgot about when I was re-prepping. 6 PTs and only one with those types of games ... on which I hadn't done so badly (-1 for that game).). Sigh.

I usually have trouble with undefined conditional grouping games, but for some reason I (feel like I) destroyed the ones on Saturday.

By the time Saturday rolled around, I was averaging 170 on my PTs, having started (before I had any idea what kind of improvement was possible) with a goal of 165, so I was really happy...but I don't see how anyone can walk out of any LSAT feeling great, just given the exhausting brain rape involved. Really, it was hard for me to stand at the end of it...plus I'm the type who focuses on the 1 answer I got wrong rather than the 25 right, so I feel unsure about it even though I'm sure I had to have gotten at least 165...

It seems that most people agreed with me on the tough answers for LR and RC, so I'm not too worried about those, but on the games...I suck at in/out games, and even though I at first made an in/out diagram for the volunteers game, I ended up scrapping it and just using all the conditional statements to answer the questions in a kind of nebulous way. Sooo I'm pretty worried about games.

j nyc wrote:glad to hear i'm not alone (or maybe not so glad) -- went into the test averaging 172+ on practice tests... always, always -0 or -1 on LG.
somehow during those 15+ PT i failed to notice how terrible i am at undefined grouping in/out games? for the september test (for the first time in over a month) i ran out of time on LG, and i guessed on 3 -- probably missed 5+...

guessing on 3 = all hopes of 170+ are gone, right?
feel like receiving my score in two weeks is just gonna be disappointing / a damage assessment.
could not bring myself to cancel even though i am certain i underperformed.

162-169 ah

Not at all - on June guessed on 5 I think in LG, and 1 in RC - ended up with a 168 - although the curve was probably a little kinder. But certainly not, if you got all 3 wrong, your still probably at 178-179, so you have a number more wrong to go before you are below 170 (at least 6 more even with a -9 curve).

As a follow-up my sinking feeling was confirmed: -8 on games == 168 overall score. Oh well.

I got a 168 too, but with -0 LG... I was all retarded during the first LR and went -7 on it.

How "bad" is a 168? You guys retaking? Do you think T5 will throw the app out without consideration?

I was considering retaking my 169, I KNOW it could have been better ... but test day errors are not avoidable. ONLY retake if the score you earned was at least -3 from your PT average. I had a few 172 but if I'm being honest my average was about 168 and there is nothing that would make me truly expect to see a worthy increase if I retook. :( Looks like I'm going with what I've got.

Admission might be an uphill battle, but I do expect they'd take the time to look over your application at least.

To have a solid chance, I think your gpa would need to be above their 75th, maybe well above. An addendum of poor test-taking would be helpful. Or some very impressive softs. Good luck!
