162 in June. I BELONG here! I took prep test 7 and 9 two weeks ago and got a 170 and 171. But took prept test 10 yesterday and got a 165. I know the first 2 prep tests were a fluke since the curve was extremely grateful! I hope I can somehow get better for September. I haven't registered yet because if I cannot consistently perform higher than a 165 there is no point in wasting the money and risk going down. Ugh I hate this test!

I feel your pain my friends. My average is in the low 160s with a high of 166. But if you think about it, there's really no reason why we can't increase our averages and sit comfortably in the 170 slot. I mean how many of the questions we miss on the test are actually questions that have us completely stumped? The vast majority are all just test-taking errors like being too careless or not seeing something we should have noticed. That's all trainable.

A friend of mine took his LSAT in June and he got a 172. He said that it took him about 15 practice tests to break out of the 160s. After awhile, his brain just became used to picking up on small details. I plan on taking 30 PT before Test Day, just to make sure. :D

Count me in! I only decided to apply to LS a few months back, so I haven't taken an LSAT yet. I guess I am "shooting" for 180 (as I know it is possible!), would be super stoked for a 173+, and will retake if I don't get at least 170.

However, my Kaplan diagnostic was a 163, and my Test 2 was still a 163! I won't feel comfortable for September until I'm scoring consistently above 170...and I know it's possible because I've achieved -0 on each of the sections under various PT circumstances. I just need to get better -- and more consistent.

If we're in the 160's, 170+ is so damn close. Anyone who can score this high regularly has a great grasp of the LSAT concepts.

Party on and good luck to all!

I'm in. Scored a 165 on the February exam after just 10 days of studying. Had scored 162, 163, 167, and 168 in that order on my practice tests, so I was disappointed the trend didn't continue. I was too lazy to try again in June, so I'm signed up for September. Ordered the LGb, 20 real LSATs, and another review book yesterday, so I'm committed.

I'm shooting for 170+, so I'll need to be consistently practicing in the low 170s or higher I assume. Glad there's a forum for people as neurotic as I am. Good luck to all. Like somone else posted, if we're scoring in the 160s already, the fundamentals are there. For me, it was definitely a logic games timing issue; encountered a particularly hard one that I skipped and came back to with only a minute or two to spare. Hopefully the LGb is as good as everyone says.

I got a 168 on my first PT cold.
Got anywhere between 161-166 on a few tests after that
On my two most recent tests I got a 169 and 168.
Hoping to get a 171 on my next PT within a week!

Hoping for 175+ in Sept.

Check the scale at the back of the PT. It varies by the test

168 in June. REALLY can't decide if I should retake in Sep or not...

Is 2 months enough for a retake? (I haven't started studying for the retake yet, but I'll have to decide by tomorrow).

Where I stand...

Studied hard and smart from late January to mid-April. Picked up again two weeks before June LSAT.

PT's:
158 (cold diagnostic) Kaplan event, Feb. 2008
168 (timed +3 or 4), mid-February 2009
161 (timed exactly), mid-February
169 (5 section Timed), end of May
171 (5 section Timed), end of May
166 (5 section Timed), end of May

Took countless sections, making mostly -3, -2, or -1 with the occasional -0 on a LG or RC section. I had some conglomerated PT scores (as in I took two timed sections one day and the other two the next) that were in the 173-176 range.

Next week, I'm picking back up the bibles and will begin to rework sections on August 11.

My major shift in focus is going to be from just doing tests, to reviewing and learning from tests. I really didn't spend nearly enough time going over the tests after I had completed them.

I really want that 175+, so do you think my plan has the makings of a super-high score?

PT 48 (7/8/09; Kaplan Diagnostic - though i did study some before it)

LR1: -4
LR2: -5
LG: -4
RC: -5

83/164

my second PT is tomorrow; i'm hoping to get at least a 169/170, since my accuracy on LG has much improved and i think i underperformed on RC on the diagnostic. LR is still the bane of my existence, but i'm trying to take it one thing at a time.

i'm hoping for a 174 on 9/26.

That's my plan for all of August and September. PT, review, repeat.

I'm trying to decide whether I should take a PT every other day, or every 3 days. I'm leaning towards the former, but worried that burnout will bite me in the ass.

Can anyone with experience taking a PT every other day for a prolonged period of time comment on this? Good idea, or no?

I also am worried about the burn out .. I'm thinking 3 a week during August and then scaling it back to 2 a week in September?!

I'm also stuck and frustrated. Last 3 tests, 165, 164, 165, then I had my worst score to date last night with a 158. Granted I did miss 11 out of 13 reading comp questions after putting out a fire in the oven.

If you're stuck in the mid-160s, you may be missing certain types of questions on each test. Try looking at those last four tests for any patterns.

that's a very good point. i've found that, while LG is good for me, my clear weaknesses are natural science passages for RC and assumption, inference, and (to a lesser degree) flaw questions for LR. i'm trying to force myself to focus primarily on those types of questions in my studying, despite the fact that it's much more fun to do questions i know i'll get right. :)

160 Diag, 163 two weeks later, and I'm taking my third one on Saturday. This will be the first one I take where I have actually prepped for it.

I scored in the 160's on my real test, but broke low 170's during prep tests, and a big thing that helped me was looking at the raw score instead of the scaled score. Pretty much aim to get 90 first, and then see what part of the test you can get there from. LR is obviously probably the best option, since every point of improvement you make is worth 2 points of the total.

I think I hit burnout. It's really hard to do this, but I'm taking the next 4 precious days off completely from studying. My last 13 PT's were in the 160's range. Today, I hit 159.

PT 37 (timed)

RC: -10
LR1: -9
LG: -3
LR2: -5

Raw: 74
Scaled: 159

And the worst part is, I thought I was on a roll.
Time to go be depressed now :(

Got a 172 today on PT 16 - September 1995
Although this one had a massive curve .. -14 = 170

Lets see if I can repeat the performance on Saturday (Oct 2001)
