I write in a spiral every question i miss on a PT in this kind of format: Why I picked the answer I did, why it's wrong, and why the correct answer is correct (2-3 sentences per incorrect answer). The following day, I go back and re-do the questions I missed (especially LR) and see if I get them all right. I think overtime it'll eventually help me a lot with LR ( missing 4-5 per section, i want 2-3).

Today is a fantastic day. I scored my third test in a row where i got a 168 or better. I scored a 168 with a raw score of 90. It was the December 05 test.

LR1:-4
LG:-0
RC:-4
LR2:-3

Has anybody that has taken this test, thought that the RC was incredibly hard? My score was not that bad, but I felt incredibly overwhelmed while taking it. I thought I was going to be more in the -7 range.

Fuck ME. One point away from a 170.

October 1996 - Official LSAT Sample Preptest

LR1: -4 21/25
RC: -3 23/26
LG -2 22/24
LR2: -4 22/26

Raw: 88
Scaled: 169

Stupid mistakes abound. I know I can get a 170.

172 (-8) AGAIN today...this time on PT 47.

I know that 172 is a very good score, but with my GPA I really need better for what I'm striving for. Although I've gotten 177's twice, they were both on much older tests...I have yet to hit higher than a 172 on a recent (post-45) test, taken with an experimental section.

However, I started with a 163 diagnostic 6 weeks ago...this means I'm only halfway through my preparation! So if I can improve another 9 points in 6 weeks...181 it is.

I hope everyone is doing well...good luck...6 fucking weeks to go...

I wish it was 6 fucking days. The waiting game is the worst part; I'm just ready to take this thing.

I tried just straight up reading a RC section today. It was 28 ?'s long, had one 8/10 difficulty passage, and not only did I finish early, but I only missed 5. I need to get it down to -3/-4. I'll try this strategy tomorrow on my PT.

I know, I feel like I am getting to a place where there is minimal room for improvement. Having to stay sharp for another 6 weeks is gonna be a bit of a beezy.

How did you approach it? RC is my weakness, I'm almost giving up on any hopes of improving my RC score from my original -9 diagnostic :x

I can't believe how easy LG have become though. Finished LG on PT 46 in 22 minutes, missing only one because of a careless mistake. Damn I wish the difficulty level between RC and LG wasn't so drastic.

Read slowly and carefully. 2 of the questions I missed were purely because I misred the questions (so stupid). The others were because of the passage being difficult and I had a hard time understanding all of the concepts. I still circled names on one of them, however, because it was contrasting 3 different schools of thought and I wanted to be able to go back and quickly grab information without being confused.

I just had by far my best test today. It was a 176 and a 94 raw score.

LG:-1
LR1:-2
RC:-2
LR2:-2

Finally all of this hard work is starting to pay off.

158 in June retaking in Sept......hit 162 today on PrepTest 53

LR 1:-6
LG: -4
LR (EX): -5
LR 2: -6
RC: -6

Looking to get Logic Games to -0 (as is everyone), ran out of time on the 4th game and unsuccessfully guessed on the last 4 questions. Really have to work on maintaining focus throughout the LR sections. I find myself consistently getting questions 10-14 wrong, while getting the more difficult questions (16-23) correct. When (woooosaba, gotta think positively)LR finally clicks I hope to start consistently scoring 165+ and hit that magical 170 on Sept. 26th. Good luck to all with your prep!!

I posted this in another thread and didn't get an answer, so I was hoping maybe someone over here would help me out.

For some reason I'm not getting #22 and #24 in LR 1 (PT47).

In #22, I can see why all the A, B, D, and E are wrong I don't understand why "C" is correct.

In #24 the argument states that instructions should be written only if consumers would find it much easier to assemble the product if the instructions were available than if they were not. "C" (the correct answer) says that most products can be assembled very easily without ever consulting instructions. This does not weaken the argument because maybe the instructions make it even MORE easy to assemble a product. What am I missing?

Please and thank you.

PT 49

LG: -1 (always making a careless mistake)
LR1: -5
RC: -9 (I'm hopeless :( )
LR2: -4

raw 81
scaled 163

So I continue to be stagnant on LR in the -4,-5 area, hopefully I can bring this up to -3 each by September. I'm going to drill a few RC sections with a new strategy and see if my score improves any.

On a brighter note, my PS is finally coming along :)

Gaaawwwd. Took another PT today. Nothing's changed.

LG:-1
RC:-1 (I think I've got those two sections down. I hardly ever miss more than 2 or 3 on LG or RC these days.)
LR1:-6
LR2:-5

Does anyone have any advice on taking LR? My score has been stuck in that range for WEEKS. I've tried breaking down questions, I've tried taking billions of practice sections. Nothing I do seems to help. If I can just get it down consistently to -1 and -2 then I have a real shot at a 170 next month.

I haven't read any of your previous posts but have you read the Powerscore LG bible? I read over it very carefully and made flashcards which I have re-read about 3 times because there's so much information to retain. I used to score -6, -8 per section prior to taking the real LSAT but now I'm scoring -3 usually and I am much more confident answering the questions, many of the answers jump out at me. My biggest improvements were reading the bible, practice sections/tests, making a habit of finishing the first 10 questions in about 10 minutes since they're the easiest usually, and underlining a words like SOME or MOST and 1-2 keywords in the question stem. OH but MOST IMPORTANTLY, my biggest setback was always overanalyzing things and taking way too long to complete a section but I have forced myself to circle and come back when I have time to questions that take me more than 1 minute, I do this with parallel reasoning too when I'm very short on time.

How do you do so well on RC? How do you approach it?
I'm also stuck in the -4,-5 per LR section. My plan is to keep drilling sections in between PT's and hopefully bring it down just a few points.

PT 36: 165

PT 38: 164
PT 43: 163
PT 44: 158
PT 45: 167
PT 47: 158 :? (today)

It seems like every PT that I do good on is followed by a train wreck of a score. It's not because of burnout, I'm only taking two PT's a week. What the flip is going on?
I'm here with you... 168, 159, 165, 161 :?
What do you think these fluctuations can be attributed to? Do you think it's burnout? Overconfidence after doing good on a recent test? I was really on my game when I did PT 45 and got a 167. Today I barely finished both the LR sections and had trouble thinking clearly. I really want to get more consistent scores by the time September roles around...ehh
I definitely think it's all about being in "the zone" when attacking PTs. My confidence level during the test when I score 165+ is noticeably different than when I bomb them. I think the important thing to take away is that you do have the ability to score well and keep on going. I sit down and review a lot more when I score poorly than when I'm floating close to 170 which may be a reason why scores tend to go down after a good test. We've got a little over a month left though and for me that means practice, practice, practice!
On the contrary, you might be "in the zone" simply because the questions are suited towards your analytical skills. Ironically, the best scores I get are when I finish the quickest simply because the questions all suit my analytical style -- whether they're LR or RC.

Hi everyone! I'm happy (?) to say I can officially join your club. I started with a 154 diag, and took my first full PT today and scored a 164. It was 34, which I felt like had really tough games (-8 on that section...ouch), so I'm hoping I can do better soon. Definitely hoping for that elusive 170 on test day. Really enjoying this thread...it's nice to see people still working hard and doing what they can to earn those extra points instead of all the complaining 178s around this board.

I want to know too .. I'm going to try the just reading and re-reading method today (no marking) so as not to waste time because I feel like I barely go back to the areas I've marked anyway once I get to the questions. But RC kills me everytime (usually around -7), it won't let me get out of the mid-160s, so I'm willing to try just about anything!

How did that new strategy go? I tried it and have somewhat mixed feeling about it. I did 2 pts. better than my usual -9, but I will have to try it again before I decide using this strategy.

Did you have to obtain an exception to it? Isn't there a limit on how many times (3?) you can sit within two years? Or did you stretch them out?
