I was wondering if it would be effective to just buy the Powerscore full-length course books ($630.00) and study out of them? Do the books basically reiterate everything in the bibles or are they actually worth purchasing?

Also, anyone know if the $630 set of books include EVERYTHING that full-length students receive (materials, bibles, preptests)?

Help much appreciated.

I'm pretty certain you don't get the bibles with the course books.

You may want to try the virtual class for $995 ...which includes probably the same course books.

If you don't take the course I would just try and master all 3 bibles and take like 40 prep tests. One of the primary benefits of the class is that it forces you do do a ton of homework.

Btw, I've heard TM books aren't as great as PS books (in terms of explanations). Anyone care to differentiate between the books?

Im curious to know which Solo course are best. PS or BP.

there is tons of material in these books from earlier tests. whoever said that their value lies in the amount of homework is also correct. there is alot of material to cover. I took the full length course so I had someone to explain concepts to me or to ask questions when i was confused and that helped tremendously. I don't think there is alot of instruction in these books but you might be able to pick it up with the lr and lg bibles.

You don't get a hard-copy of the bibles with the course. You do get access to a .pdf of them, though.

I have taken the full-length course and read both bibles. If the course books you speak of are the same books provided to full-length course students, the bibles are better. The course does provide a book of prep-tests, but you can get those from anyone for a fraction of $630.

to issaca: I think BP is a better solo course - although does anyone here know if they are still in business? They seem to be a viable option too but I emailed them and no one has responded.

I took the TM prep class, and I found it to be mediocre. Despite its great reviews, I wasn't too impressed with it. I think this may have been due to the instructors. We had 3 different instructors -- the first one left after about 6 lessons, and a new one came in, and then a new one came in. Although the methods are pretty much the same, the teaching style was completely different and it was hard to adjust to the new instructor.

Anyways, I didn't end up writing the lsat because I didn't feel ready. This past summer I used my TM books to study for the lsat and they weren't that helpful. They were good in the sense I was doing a lot of practice questions but there is zero explanation, and if I was confused with a certain question type or a game, there was nothing there to guide me.

I wrote the LSAT in oct and didn't do too well. I was scoring in the high 168-172 range on practice tests but did horribly on the actual day. I'm rewriting the LSAT in feb. and I signed up for the Jan Powerscore class that goes right up until the Feb lsat. Has anyone taken the Powerscore class? I'm sure there have been many posts on this, but if so, how did you like the class, did it really help with your lsat score?

From what I have heard the TM books are for the classroom as the instructors are needed to expand on what is provided in the books. This is why TM does not like others passing around their books or does not normally sell them without the course. I have not heard if PS course books are good alone but I think Mate has the right idea, bibles and tons of PT's at a fraction of the cost. There are ways of getting PT's at a great cost that I dare not speak of though in public

You get all the powerscore course books, including the huge book of extra tests, but not the bibles. Of course, all the information is in the course books, so you don't really need the bibles.

You also get full access to the powerscore website with all the explanations, etc.

I took the powerscore full length course. I would NOT take it again.
The only thing that it helped me with was Logic Games. I sucked before them, and I got a little better after. I still feel like I bombed the LG section on the LSAT, though.

I bought the LGB and LRB separately. The LGB helped somewhat, but not tremendously.

I'm wondering what are the main differences between the Powerscore Bibles and the coursebooks that you get from their Virtual Course? Would it just be better or worse to sign up for that class or get the bibles to study on my own?

TM books are very spare. Almost all of the TM material is delivered in the lecture. The coursebooks are mainly just LG/LR/RC.

does powerscore sell their course books or are you guys all talking about buying them secondhand?

I have some I'm willing to sell for 250, Powerscore Full Length Course, very lightly used.

I am currently taking the powerscore virtual class as there was not a live class offered anywhere near where I am. I had bought the bibles prior to signing up for the class and was working through them and doing ok. But the books that came with the class I really love. Yes the information is not that different from the bibles but the drills and problems - the homework, is perfect for me. I like to practice a lot on a particular concept and these books have provided me the ability to do that with excellent explanations either in the book or in the online student center which is a part of my class. I have no idea if the books I got for the virtual class are the same as for the full length class but there are 5 of them. For me, it has been worth the investment. I am also 12 years out of college, unfamiliar with logic and a historically bad test taker. I am a strong reader and good learner and once I actually get something it sticks. I am pleased with the books and have found them helpful.
