Hey, I just did that test.

I got 5/7 on the subcommittee game. Do you know how to do that game?

Which subcommittee game? I can think of around 3 (I think). And I don't think I particularly liked any of them.

Can't think of a subcommittee game I didn't hate, but I'll have to check how well I did on it. If it is the one I was thinking of, I don't think I did very well. It was the last one of the section, and pretty difficult, due to some broad rules. I think there was a head of the committee, and the committee was based on 2 different groups of people.

That game was quite the deal. I think the trick to the game is knowing and keeping track of the fact that only M or P could
be in all three subcommittees

Oh yeah. Not from 2 different groups, but going to 3 different committees. I remember specifically being pissed about this one. I am usually good to finish about 3.5 games, maybe a bit more, but this one was plain awful to come up on. I'd have to check back, but I think I only got a few minutes on this one, which was different and difficult enough to not finish.

I couldnt figure out how i had done it in my head. When I sat down and tried it though, it breaks down into a few possible combinations of pairs...

Essentially, they have to give you if then statements as questions, the gmae wont work otherwise. So when they do that, it eliminates possible pairs of people.

Either M or P are the people who can be in all three groups. Everyone else is in pairs. It works out.

Hope that helped.

One of the keys to the subcommittee game is this.

Either M or P serves on all three committees. I drew two diagrams for this rule, one with P serving on all three and one with M serving on all three. Then on each of those I separated F from G since they can't ever be together. H and I can't ever be together either but I didn't graph them yet because I didn't know if F would be with H or I. At this point I had this:

P G _ | P F _ | P _ _
or
M G _ | M F _ | M _ _

I had four spaces left, and three people - H, I and M/P. This means 1 person has to serve on exactly two committees, in addition to either M or P serving on all three.

Aaaaand you might have noticed that you actually have this situation:

P G _ | P F _ | P M H/I
or
M G _ | M F _ | M P H/I

Which means that M and P always serve together on a committee, AND either H or I always serve on two. However, H/I and F/G are interchangeable, which means that if either H or I have to serve on exactly two committees, then the same goes for F and G.

Spelling this out further (because this post isn't nearly long enough yet)... Say I had chosen to put in H and I in my initial diagrams rather than F and G. It would look like

P H _ | P I _ | P M F/G
or
M H _ | M I _ | M P F/G

Make sense? Realizing this made the game a little easier for me. Hope it helps.
