Help with creating a study schedule? When should I start?

Post by neeks8282 » Tue Sep 25, 2018 4:31 pm

Just graduated back in May from a decent state school with just north of a 3.7. I was studying a little bit towards the end of my undergraduate career but was more focused on getting drunk and partying. Anyway, I accepted a position with Teach for America and have just completed my first 2 weeks of school. I lucked out and got placed at a school with more support than usual for a TFA school and think I have a decent amount of time to study. Here is my schedule when I am free to study:

Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday: 4:30pm - 10pm

Thursday: Not free at all

Saturday: All day (hope to have fun Friday night, though)

Sunday: All day (need to prepare for school day Monday after about 5pm, though)

My plan was to take the June LSAT next year. My goal is to be scoring north of 170, my diagnostic was a 158 with about 20 wrong in the LG section. By the end of my half hearted 2 months of studying my senior year I scored a 164 on a test with still a lot of improvement to go in LG. LG is really my weakness as of right now.

How do you guys suggest I study? 2 hours a day M, T, W maybe? Then 3 or 4 hours Saturday and Sunday? When should I start for the June LSAT? Any other tips on studying?

Any info would be greatly appreciated!

I think you should focus on quality study time.. Its not just about how many hours you can sit by your desk. For general strategy learning, just reading the strategy book while on the go, you don't really need big block time to do that. Do allow yourself at least three 1-2 hours session per week to do the questions and, more importantly, review the answers. Make yourself a spreadsheet to track your speed and accuracy. LG can definitely be improved by smart prep.
