Retake advice

Post by tealolin44 » Fri Aug 10, 2018 11:34 am

I got my July score and got a 169. In practice tests I'd been scoring between 167-174, with a mode of 168. I'm looking at top 14 schools. GPA is 3.9. Is it worth a retake?

A 3.9 GPA is really solid. While 169 will still position you decently well for a T-14, it'd be a shame to waste such a high GPA. If you know you could be getting 170+, those few points could be the difference between a lot of scholarship money. I would probably retake.

You should 100% retake it.

This is the biggest moment of your life and you want to maximize it for future success. If you're already scoring in the that range, you just need to maintain that score.

169 and a 3.9 GPA gives you a decent shot at a school like Northwestern.
174 and a 3.9 GPA gives you a great shot at Yale and Harvard.

You should not only retake once, but retake twice if that's what it takes to score higher in that score range. Future Cravath partner you will thank me later.
