What's the hardest someone you know has studied for the LSAT?

I took over 200 fully timed 5 section practice tests over a year period.

Did you score above 175?

my friend did 5 months of 40-55 hours a week. Started at a 157 and ended up with a 173.

She would wake up, work out, and then head to the library. Essentially she treated it like a full-time job.

As I've posted elsewhere, it's a job with a potential six-figure payoff, so why the hell not make an effort?

The work ethic is no doubt impressive but it strikes me as excessive or for the very least burdensome to the end goal of achieving a high LSAT.
I studied for 6 months, averaging 25 hour weeks and PT'ed at 177, 79, 75, 180, a month prior to the February exam.

If you think that most LSAT test takers could study for 6 months at a pace of roughly 25 hours per week and be practice testing 177+ consistently towards the end of that 6 months then you are crazy.

I would guess around 200 hours is optimal for most people, and then diminishing returns kick in big time. Most people probably can't reach 175+ no matter how long they study...

I (sort of) agree with this. I'm not sure about the 200 hours being optimal but I'd guess you're not too far off in saying that after ~200 hours the law of diminishing returns kicks in big.
