does anyone have thoughts on applying and updating LSAT score after a retake vs. waiting to apply?

i have the rest of my application set and am shooting to go somewhere like NYU or UVA at a significant discount if possible though i'm not adverse to paying full boat there or at somewhere like harvard or yale were the gods to grace me with an acceptance at one of those. i was consistently 177-180 on my last several PTs but think I may have done worse on this one and am thinking I'll retake anything below a 173. do you think applying now and updating an lsat score were i to do better on the december administration is a better plan than waiting to apply altogether?

hopefully it doesn't come down to that anyway but you never know

still shook most of you prefer whiskey to vodka, also

I was debating this as well. In pretty much the exact same boat. If you apply with a 172 (lets say) and dont get waitlisted, but denied than your retake wont even matter? so thats a gamble you have to be willing to take right? or are you guys saying you notify some schools of the retake and they put a "hold" on your file?

I can only speak to Texas Law, but they said that you do have to request a hold on your file -- else your retake will not necessarily be considered. At which point it's basically better to just not apply until you get your retake score back.

Yeah, the more I think about it the sillier it seems to apply while planning on retaking. I'm not really a gambling man and I think it would probably stress me out even more to apply places and not hear back for so long. I think there's just too much time between September and December score releases.

Hopefully won't have to deal with this though, all comes down to how I handled going through Judges and the final passage at warp speed - don't really think I got more than 1-2 wrong on the rest of the test.

Haha I feel like your exactly at the spot i am in. I crushed the test and just made a stupid fakin mistake bubbling after passage 1, fixed it, but it ate some time so I approached the last 2 in warp speed and think i pulled it off but you just never know. If I have to retake I think I am going to just hold my apps till the day dec scores released because I dont want to risk getting preemptively denied. Not worth it. I think you have a better shot in dec with a higher score than gambling on a wait list which is a pain in the ass to begin with.

Thanks for this. This was my take on the matter as well. Seems like waiting till score in DEC (if retake is imminent) is the best approach.

I never thought someone could fit both feet in their mouth, but you gotta hand it to that guy.

There should be yearly Lounge awards for biggest piece of shit OP. I nominate him.

Yeah, my volunteer work is extensive, but I'm not going around blasting about how great my softs are. I'm just hoping the adcoms like what they see. Hopefully, it pushes me over the top somewhere.

Also, I'd forgotten how much I enjoy using this avatar on a forum.

What does OT mean?

What about an official Halloween meet up where we dress as our tars?

I'll probably just throw my cat kigurumi on and go as twinsies with my husband. I'm too old/tired to spend much time on a costume this year.

Nyc comic con was litttttt

They had a
SAW escape room and I waited 4 fucking hours to do it. My friend, me and two other people beat it. We got posters, a jigsaw bag and free movie tickets to see it!

Also spent tons of money on stuff.
